An error occurred while saving the comment We've got a similar problem in Germany when street names contain words from other languages, for example the name of partner cities in France or names of French people. Nasal sounds can't be reproduced and the stress is mostly on the wrong syllable. It would be helpful when editing the street name in the WME to have a tag indicating that the following word should be pronounced in a specific language.

In Germany, we have many cities and towns that were formed through municipal mergers. These municipalities consist of 20 or more widely separated villages. To make matters worse, after such mergers, the municipalities often refuse to rename streets, resulting in 20 streets in a single municipality all bearing the name "Dorfstraße" (village street). For effective routing, the representation of sub-cities is extremely useful.
