Avoid express lanes
It would be nice to be able to turn off Express Lanes, with the same toggle switch as the "Avoid Toll Roads" option. I almost never have passengers in my car, and therefore cannot ever take the Express Lanes, but the app keeps directing me to them. Express Lanes also occasionally have different exiting options, so it can sometimes change your entire route and make you miss exits you needed to take.
Great news! The option to disable HOV lanes is now available in Waze. Install the latest app version to check it out.

The usecase is simple. I am planning a drive on vacation and I need to cross a state where vignette is too expensive or it doesn't meet my needs in oher way. So it is easier to avoid tollroads only in this state.
I've noticed that there is a feature I can add vignettes that I have on my car. This is actually a possible way of achieving my suggestion. But it seems that it doesn't work yet.

QUE TENGAN UNA RUTA PARA EVITAR TAG O PEAJES, ES DECIR SALIR DE LA AUTOPISTA Y ENTRAR NUEVAMENTE ASI SE EVITAN ALGUNOS ESTO GENERA AHORRO EN USUARIOS.
EXISTEN RUTAS QUE POR EJEMPLO NO SIGNIFICA TANTO SALIR DE LA AUTOPISTA Y VOLVER A ENTRAR PERO LA GANANCIA ES QUE DEJAS DE PAGAR LOS TAG QUE EN CHILE SON ALTISIMOS, ESTOY SEGURO QUE SERIA UN EXITO. -

In France there are a lot of toll highway. Some of them are really expensive (The "duplex" near Paris which cost 10€ for 10km)
When I'm going somewhere, I take toll highway but I always want to avoid the "duplex".
It would be amazing to have a menu where you can specify if you want to avoid specific toll highway -

Should reset to off whenever you re-open ways. Or prompt you and ask if you really want to avoid tollroads when you use it it in new country.
Had ours set to avoid tollroads at some point long ago. There are no tollroads where we live so never noticed. Now travelling in Portugal and a 3 hr drive became a 5.75 hr drive!!!! We didn’t realize Waze was avoiding tollroads. Ruined our day.

For travel alerts Waze needs to understand which lanes I am using to avoid or report problems.

I set this option by mistake (I suspect my 3-years-old son did it).
The penalty was significant - I wasted a few hour last week on longer drives until I figured out what went wrong.
I believe this option has such a strong impact that it should be regarded as a "mode" and indicated in a more prominent way. -

I am almost ready to stop using WAZE because it insists on routing me through the Express Lane which costs twice as much as other tolls roads here in Houston. I want to use the toll road option, but Express/HOV and tolls are a single option. Please, please, please separate HOV/Express from other toll routes!!

Sometimes I take the toll road, even though Avoid Toll Roads is always on. If Waze is smart enough to ask me if I'm going to work, couldn't it be smart enough to offer an additional pop up if I enter the toll road: "Will you be taking the toll road to work today?"

Does anyone know if there is a solution to this?

I agree with this request, I am seeing more and more URs about this considering our area is adding more and more EZ Pass only toll ramps.

First. Make the suggestion box easily found on the waze app. Second make selecting a route option (toll/no-toll and highway/no-highway) Show on the first route option window that is displayed when you pick your destination.

Amen! Just guide people to the freeway and let them decide if they want to get in the express lanes. I've gotten two tickets already because Waze guided onto express lanes.

Yes! Express lanes are not an option in Seattle, if you have less than two people in your vehicle. However, Waze insists on routing you through the express lanes, even though the non express lanes may end up being much, much longer then an alternative route. however, ways insists on routing you through the Express Lanes, even though your actual route may end up being much, much longer than an alternative route. This is a significant problem that eliminates waze's utility during rush hour.

Move the "avoid Freeways" to the top layer. In LA I am constantly comparing the two. Much time and danger can be saved using backstreets. If the difference between Fwy and streets is even only 6 minutes. I'll take the streets. Having to open Navigation settings every time just to compare these two routes is annoyingly time consuming.

I travel the busy So. Calif. Fwys all the time. Waze directs me to use toll lanes but i can't afford fast pass and it doesn't give me an alternative sometimes theres none. But don't automatically assume there's an express lane and everbody can use it. Thank you, Davina Duncan

Waze takes me automatically onto toll roads, which is understandable given that it is trying to find the shortest or fastest route. But some tolls are easier to pay than others and it would be helpful to be able to tell Waze to avoid toll roads.
