Turn off screen option
i think i would be great if you could turn off only the screen + lock the key, with let the data & gps active.
what for ?
in my case, i ride motorcycle and i can't place my cellphone on the carplug and the battery go quickly down without it. (because data, gps, screen consume big)
so i want to place it in my pocket and just have sound (trough my Earbuds) like that i'm aware when i'm crossing police trap, slow traffic etc....
I can't believe this isn't already an option for motorcycles. A rider can't be expected to leave an unlocked phone inside his/her motorcycle jacket with headphones plugged in. The result will be emails to unexpected people with subject lines like drrrrrrrrrrgggggggggggf2222 etc. Not to mention potential calls to 911. Or an embarrassing pocket call where the boss hears you humming along atonally to some song stuck in your head.. Just saying.
This! Using Waze on a motorbike is useless as it stands now. Unless you have a phone holder and leave the screen on. Heck even in thecar i would love to turn the screen off as that drains the battery most

Hmmm this post 5 years old?
I drive the same route everyday so I don't need the screen on all the time.
It drains my battery very fast (is currently set to NIGHT-MODE to safe some battery-time).
I just need the screen ON when I get an alert.
Google maps navigation can do this, I would be nice if Waze could as well!

Agree + option to dim the screen. There should be also an option to automatically turn on the screen when a new notification/guide arrives.
I agree, however, I drive a car/truck (not a motorcycle), but I think that having the option of turning the screen off is a great feature, specially on long drives. I don't like having to leave my screen on for hours & hours when all I need is a audio alert. If I need to see or report something, I could just touch the screen to turn it on...
This feature shouldn't be too difficult to add/implement, I have a GPS tracking app that will turn off the screen after a few minutes but will still track you & record info (ie: speed, elevation, coordinates, etc) while the screen is off. Turn on your phone/screen & it knows right where you are, showing current data.
I see the original post is just over 5 years ago & this feature is still not available...
