Alternate Route
Very frustrating when Waze updates the route with a bunch of turns, including a few difficult left turns, and it results in a time savings of a minute or two. Sometimes it doesnt save any time at all. I suggest an option were you can choose a time savings minimum before waze will take you off your current route. For example I would prefer to stay on my current, more direct route, unless a time savings of 5 min is available then please change my route.
Thanks

Waze is of course great to avoid traffic.
However, sometimes, especially in cities, it does a too good of a job.
Waze has a tendency to send you on a "wild" ride in the city, with lot's of twists and turns. I appreciate that it saved me an extra minutes, but would have been glad for a slightly slower route, with less twists.
Waze *can* get me a little nauseous at times in the city... -

Before sending me off the highway on a full of turns and small streets journey, is should mention like in google what is the estimated change would be if i take this route vs. other possible routes. I prefer not to save 1 min and stay on the highway for example, but I don't know how much time I will save following the other route.

Traffic situation on the roads is sometimes changes fast and when the user is getting close to an intersection of roads (where alternative path maybe taken) and have to select which one to take according to the previous waze selection - it may already be outdated. I would propose that the application will detect such situation and recalculate the ride time again and present a message similar to the following: "Alternative road XXX with take X minutes less"

Maybe the code could have a conditional statement that says that when a car is less than a mile from the reroute then it does not reroute the driver. It is very difficult to move through certain types of traffic to make the adjustments of the reroute, so this would avoid the hassle of trying to get over or possibly causing an accident trying to adjust to the new route.

Yes, Google maps navigation has it. As I approach an intersection, from which there are more than one possible (and already calculated) routes, it shows a message "xy minutes longer trip", or something like that. Good for deciding whether take alternative route on a worse/more dangerous road if it saves only a little time.

Great one. Too add, Waze should have a record of my most common routes between my favorite destinations. Don't re-route from one of the commons routes unless it exceeds this tolerance. Driving through unfamiliar streets and neighborhoods adds undue stress to my commute in order to save 1 or 2 minutes.

A sliding scale that allows the user to set their preference between saving time and going on back roads vs spending more time in traffic but staying on main roads i.e. if I am not in a rush I am happy to spend a bit more time in traffic on a main road instead of taking a diversion over speed bumps etc just to save a few minutes.

On the "fastest" setting Waze is suggesting I turn right only to make an immediate U-turn when I could just wait at the light a few more seconds and turn left. Add a new mode that compromises between Fastest and Shortest called "Simplest.

Create a "minimum time saved" threshold for using toll roads. For example, I may not be willing to take the 407 in Toronto if I only save 5 minutes, but would definitely take the 407 if it saved me 15 minutes or more.

Agreed - There's alot of similar suggestions out there. The other night, Waze took me off the highway in the pouring rain and cutting through some unknown residential areas before putting me back on. I don't know IF there was something major on the highway or not. But I'd be willing to sit on the highway for an extra 10 minutes instead of navigating the small roads.

Today, Still light out; no rain. It really wanted me to not get on my usual ramps to the highway. I was feeling stubborn, and only added 2 minutes. Time "saved' through residential isn't always fully realized. -

Besides the faster and the short routes, should be avaliable a simplified route, in which there is a minimal amount of curves. The streets of my city were not planned. They are a complete mess! Its very stressful to deal with. Simplified routes will provide a best experience.

have an option not to change a route unless there is at least a (user input=4 minutes) so it will not take you off major roads and re-route on minor roads or neighborhoods

Add the option not to re-route if in doing so it does not save more than 5 or 10 mins travel time. I find that Waze will re-route to save just a few minutes which can sometimes not be worth the effort.

Bonjour,
je partage cette remarque, pouvoir insérer plusieurs "via" seraient vraiment un plus. -

It would be great if we can chose how longer way we go against time saved. Very often I got fastest route is 30 miles longer to save 5min. I wish I can chose ratio of max miles over time saved;
example
to save 5min on route no more than 5 miles longer then shorther distance or I prefer 20miles route in 40 min then 50 miles in 35 min. -

Have a simplify option for routes. For instance if you save 1 min by taking 3 turns on smaller roads then ignore and keep a simpler 1 turn route. User could set thresholds in minutes for when to bother. Great app. Thanks.

Just to add- should have google like alternate paths with the time sometimes few mins matters but sometimes not.

It seems to me Waze could benefit from behavioral modes of use along these lines that I can choose to select my preferred mode:
1) Aggressive (Do whatever it takes to cut my time down)
2) Moderate (Only take me onto side streets etc. if it saves me more than X minutes of time)
3) Least hassle route - slow and steady, but avoid major traffic snarls.AM
