Thank you for this suggestion.
Setting the Car’s direction when starting the app and navigation is a known matter which will be addressed in the future.
There are many complexities in location tracking which cause this issue and hold us from providing a solution.
It’s currently on the back burner, but definitely a part of the backlog. -

Please note we're changing the status of this suggestion to Not right now, since we finalized our plans for 2024 and this idea won't be implemented this year.
We hope to include it in our plans for later down the line.

An error occurred while saving the comment Traffic situation on the roads is sometimes changes fast and when the user is getting close to an intersection of roads (where alternative path maybe taken) and have to select which one to take according to the previous waze selection - it may already be outdated. I would propose that the application will detect such situation and recalculate the ride time again and present a message similar to the following: "Alternative road XXX with take X minutes less"

An error occurred while saving the comment Wanted to propose the same feature. It maybe highly useful for helping someone to arrive to certain location by phone while tracking his location on the live map on waze web size.
Waze is trying to navigate the user according to the selected direction - sometimes it may save him time to turn around and drive at the opposite direction if that possible. When starting propose the user to turn around.
