Bring back Madea voice
Thank you for your suggestion!
Some of the voices we feature are promotional, meaning they are only available for a limited time.
We offer special voices for holidays, events, and just for fun.
You can use these for the length of the promotion. When the promotion ends, your voice will reset to the default and the voice will no longer appear in the Sound menu.
We hope that you enjoyed the voice while it was available and can’t wait to share more exciting voices to come!
Want to try another voice?
Tap Menu and tap the Settings wheel.
Tap Voice & sound.
Tap Voice Language and select the voice you’d like to use.

I've been using Waze for several years now off and on with Google Maps. Recently I found a way to customize the navigational voice in Waze to a woman who sang the directions. I was so shocked by this, that I completely stopped using Google Maps and in fact recommended Waze to all of my clients, praising the fact that they too could have the voice of an angel (which is what it sounded like to me) sing them to work. Imagine my embarrassment when I discovered that this was just some promotion and Waze "took it away" and stuck me with some robot sounding voice, that sounds like every other map app I have on my iPhone. Doing a bit of research I found that this is something that Waze does all the time, I was relieved to see that I was not the only one disappointed, disillusioned and now resentful of the Waze app for taking away a navigational voice that had made me give up Google Maps. I worked in marketing for several years, and I must say, alienating your audience is not a strategy I would use in a society that is looking to replace anything that ticks them off. I would happily pay an "in-app" purchase to keep the voice I had "sold" to my clients and used lovingly before it was terminated without warning. It would be fun, actually FUN to buy different packs of voices, like singers, star wars, etc... the possibilities are endless. And I myself have purchased "stickers" and other trivial "in-app" purchases ranging from 99 cents to 2.99 over and over just to make my texting or photo experience more enjoyable. I don't doubt that everyone using your app, for the most part, would be willing to buy unique voices to navigate them (outside of your standard voices that could remain free). This is a huge marketing opportunity as well as a profitable venture. I wouldn't overlook it. I'd like to keep using Waze, but without that unique navigational voice... it's not the same. I now have a negative connotation as would the psychology (and marketing is ALL about psychology) to any app that takes away something the user has come accustomed to and adores. I hope that Waze goes for this idea. Selfishly, because it made a huge difference in my life. I live in LA and am in traffic all the time, having a soothing voice that sung directions to me... I don't know, it made a difference and that was unexpected. Almost healing in a way, as strange as that sounds. For most navigational devises the voices sound robotic, inhuman. But for the first time with that English (European) woman singing, I felt... less alone... less frustrated by being stuck in my car. And that's not only marketable, to change someones experience, it's also beautiful. I hope that Waze considers allowing users to keep unique voices if they purchase them inside the app.

Keep the unique voices instead of getting rid of them when the promotion ends. Or allow us to buy voice packs so that we can keep the voices. I recommended Waze to thirty people not realizing the voices were temporary. Now without the voice I chose, I see no use in using this over Google maps. The big difference for me was having a voice I loved guide me in my car, it entirely changed my driving experience. Now, marketing wise, I feel alienated from this app, a strange sort of resentment. That is not what anyone in marketing would advise for any app. I would happily pay an "in-app purchase" to keep promotional voices that I love. If this took off, then Waze wouldn't have to use as many advertisements which take away from the driving experience because they would be making money off of people wanting to buy new voices to route them. A win-win for everyone <3

When Madea's new Halloween movie comes out I wish you would get Tyler Perry to do his Madea voice for navigation. I truly enjoyed Kevin Hart now it's Madea's turn.

Odd request I know however, I would PAY to have Matthew McConaughey's voice as an option for navigation.
