remove Lake Shore Ave and Baxter St. from rush hour routes
someone is going to be seriously injured. the street is a 32% grade and scares many drivers. during rush hour it's a DANGEROUS disaster waiting to happen.

This is not a shortcut. This is a neighborhood street that cannot sustain non-neighborhood traffic. It is so dangerous for those unfamiliar with the hill. Cars regularly stop, paralyzed in fear about going over the hill causing dangerous conditions. Additionally, trucks regularly get stuck. It is extremely dangerous and reckless for Waze to use Baxter and Lake Shore as alternative routes.

The first time I drove up Baxter I thought I was going to topple over. I just had occasion to drive home a resident on the Hill. I had the same feeling. 35 years of potential disaster. My friend on the hill, a new resident says he and girlfriend regularly hear people crashing. So far, no disasters.

I am hoping that this effort will result in less commuter traffic on Lemoyne St. as well.

When I moved to this area 20 years ago and first took Baxter...my dog in the backseat thought I was attempting murder suicide. This street is no joke. Take it off.

I agree. And remove the intersection of Baxter at Alvarado also.
This is the apex of the hill and drivers on Baxter (who don't have a stop sign) stop at the intersection of Alvarado because it's so steep they can't see over the top of the hill.
Meanwhile drivers on Alvarado (who do you have a stop sign) are waiting and trying to figure out what to do. Should they cross the intersection because the car on Baxter is stopped? Or wait as the driver on Baxter is obviously confused?

On a map Baxter may look like a good idea, but this is a very steep hill and not at all practical or safe.

I totally agree that Baxter is not intended as a commuter street. It is dangerously steep, and should only be used if someone has to.

This is the worst street in Echo Park to drive up or down!

This is the steepest hill open to cars in North America the LAPD uses it as an advanced test for motorcycle cops

Had another terrifying encounter today when an SUV driver spun out on the top of the hill and had to turn around after burning all the rubber of her wheels. Ugh. So scary.

Baxter has gone from challenging to incredibly dangerous at rush hour. Please remove from Waze before someone is killed.

I dive my kids to/from school using Cerro Gordo and have to cross Baxter. I watch terrified drivers pause, or stop, or drive into the oncoming lane (why????) as they reach the peak and cross Cerro Gordo. I have seen cars get stuck after they've stopped, their cars don't have enough power to move forward from the dead stop. The cars behind them have to go around them (into oncoming traffic on a blind hill) till it's clear enough for the stuck car to reverse down the hill. Baxter is tricky enough for people who live in the area and transverse it on a regular basis.
