automatically pause playing music before giving audible directions
Automatic Media Pause before audible directions

Thank you for your suggestion! As you may already know, the volume for your car’s audio is automatically lowered when directions are sounded.

I know, don't I? Looks like this is an easier way to make spotify more stable and solid at https://modsuper.com/tr/spotify-premium

Yes, however there is a big difference between lowering and pausing audio. Since when playing things such as audio books you will miss important bits of information as the volume gets lowered down and spoken over. The popularity of the suggestion should speak for itself. Users are aware of the existing feature, this is a thread to suggest a new implementation to pause the audio that is playing.

Give us two separate toggle options:
1. The current toggle "Pause Audio" doesn't work. It just lowers the volume of whatever is playing, talks over it, and then, resumes. I'm usually listening to material I've downloaded to my phone that doesn't make sense when I miss a part, so pausing is important.
2. Give the people who want the audio to continue for the volume to lower the option. -

Why can we have both? I only listen to music and it really lowers the music way to much for the alerts only. In a highway I had to turn off the notifications completely because it was one after another and it was making the music unbearable.

1. I'm using Waze with Spotify integration
2. I use voice commands on Waze
3. Waze will duck Spotify audio when it is talking
4. Waze should also duck audio when listening for my responseexample:
1. Spotify is playing a song
2. I say "ok Waze"
3. Waze goes "beep" to indicate it's listening
4. Spotify still at full volume
5. I have to shout over Spotify "Report vehicle on side of the road"
6. Waze ducks Spotify audio to say "Reporting vehicle on the side of the road... is that right?"
6. As soon as Waze starts listening for my reply it turns Spotify back up to full volume. -

When I am listening to apple using on bluetooth headphones, waze pauses the music and tells me directions. Then I have to hit the play button for music and start listening but then again waze pauses the music and tells me directions. It you will REALLY GREAT but WAZE slows down the music and tells directions, like GOOGLE MAPS does.

I would like to listen to books on overdrive and when directions are give the audio book to pause and get the direction then have the book resume.
I drive Lyft and need the directions.

While listening to my car radio, using a blue tooth for Waze, all was fine until a couple weeks ago when Waze suddenly started pausing my radio to give me directions in my ear via the blue tooth. Please let me know if there is a way around this. I hate missing important information for the roads, weather and news on the radio because "Watch out, vehicle stopped on shoulder ahead" comes on!!

My mom and I like to listen to audio books while we go on long trips and it is extremely annoying to miss several seconds of the book every time we need to turn or get off of intersections. Most things pause the book when they need to make a noise or say something. There really needs to be a way to fix this.

how has this not be fixed. give the user options to pause or lower audio. it cant be that hard.

Many other applications specifically GPS nav apps, pause audio when they need to interrupt. I would like to see that given the number of audible warnings that Waze can give in lieu of turning off such useful notifications.

Need podcast and audio books on iBooks to pause when waze gives directions. Annoying when listening to a book and I lose track of what's being read

The previous version of Waze was better for podcasts... pausing audio apps (slight rewind) then resuming audio after giving instructions. I can understand people listening to music may prefer the duck setting where audio is instead dimmed so as to not interrupt the feel of the music, but options need to be adjustable by the user according to their needs. Not make some happy at the expense of everyone else.

I would like Waze to silence itself when you are on the phone. Right now, Waze announces alerts while you are on a call...very annoying.

Waze on my HTC One X+ pauses music (Rocket Player) or podcast (Podcast republic) but the settings are within the payer itself. See "lost focus" section. However, for me it works fine for music, but for podcasts the WAZE directions get totally distorted. It's as if it is still trying to play the podcast at the same time as the directions. Not sure if it's the podcast player that's the problem or WAZE.

When using, concomitantly with Waze, an app that are streaming audio, if you activate the voice command, Waze just lowers the volume of the other app's stream, and I think this is a mistake in some situations. It can be perfect if you're using an earphone, but it's nonfunctional if you're in a car using the speakers of its sound system, since the microphone will capture a lot of noise (the sound of the other app's stream). So I suggest that Waze pauses the others streams when voice command is activated, not just lowers their volumes.

Using Android 5.0.1, this pausing (ducking in the audio world) works beautifully at times, but at other times pauses the music for several seconds, then announces the last few words of the Waze message. I can't figure out the pattern, but obviously the code is in there. I use a Galaxy Note 4. I had the same problem with the Note 3, and with KitKat versions of Android. Is it just Samsung devices? I agree with others that it should be configurable: none, lower media volume, or turn off media. The Waze announcements similarly should have those options.
