route overview
Please add an option to see either a birds-eye overview or a turn-by-turn list (or both?) of the route Waze is taking me on.
Sometimes I know I want to avoid a particular road. So when Waze plots a route for me at the start, I can review the proposed alternate routes and choose one. But if I need to deviate from that route to make a side errand maybe, Waze will recalculate my route on the fly, going back to its #1 preferred route. If I'm not paying close attention, this sends me back over to the road I wanted to avoid in the first place! It's hard to tell early on in a route whether Waze found a good alternate for me or if it's sending me to the toll road yet again, for example. Being able to see an overview of the entire route would allow me decide whether I should follow the navigation guidance or not.
Great news. Route overview is available is both map view and table view.

Also, when comparing routes, overview disappears after a few seconds. Needs to stay up until u reset

Please add option to Settings to show route overview first rather than showing route descriptions and having to click Map. Thanks!

I would also like this feature. I use Waze everyday for home-work journeys, together with another app (Michelin Traffic) which shows my favorite route on a map along with traffic conditions. Very useful to make a decision, since Waze can't always guess the forthcoming traffic conditions...

Yes please! Currently I use Waze and google navigation at the same time because google gives me the overview option... but I like waze's traffic avoidance better. rather have it all in one!

I see that you can navigate to a bird's eye view of the routes from within the app, but why not make this bird's eye presentation The Beginning Screen that you see Before making your Route Selection (like in the native maps app on iOS)? This could put a stop to many driver errors like the one that I experienced. Rather than force users to navigate to that Bird's Eye screen, make them see it by default after their 'trip' point A to point B has been entered into the Waze app engine.

Yes, Yes, YES!! There are many other use cases for a 'bird's eye' feature like this. One is mine: This last weekend I was going to my Aunt's house in Houston, TX from my home in Austin. I opened the Waze app, used the search bar at top to search my contacts on my iPhone for my Aunt's address. Waze found it, it all looked good. I hit go and then followed the directions without giving it too much thought. (This may sound stupid, but) An hour later I paid closer attention to the route I was given and realized that Waze was taking me to the 'same' address in BFE Central TX--what!? I had assumed that because the address looked correct from the start screen that Waze was just re-routing me around some crazy traffic (it was a Friday evening after all), but no it was taking me to an entirely different place in Texas, TX instead of Houston, TX. If I had had a 'Bird's Eye' view of the whole route presented to me automatically before setting out I would've seen the error and the 2hr. waste could've been completely avoided. I think a 'Bird's Eye' view of the potential Waze routes should always be presented before every trip, Before you even make your selection. It should automatic within the app to present this at the start of every trip.

Waze 3.2 for iOS now makes it easier to bring up the turn-by-turn list. Any time Waze is navigating a route, you can tap in the upper right corner of the screen to bring up the list. Very simple!
And I've found that, to see the overhead view of your entire route, at any time, you can bring up the menu, tap Routes, and then tap the Map button on that screen. It recalculates your route and shows you it plus any alternate routes it found. This works well enough for me that I'm going to pull my votes from this idea... :)

A birds-eye view similar to the button on the Google Navigation would be nice.

I would really like an easy turn-by-turn list option (like in Google maps). As others have noted, there are routes I sometimes want to avoid or, on the other hand, specifically use to get to my destination. It's too difficult to scroll through the route line on the map.

A turn-by-turn list is very useful when evaluating a route. For longer routes, the map is way too cumbersome.

alqamist, you can see the route overview when initially choosing a route. As I noted below:
On the view showing the list of routes, the "Map" button (upper right) will show you an overhead view of the routes.
I hope this helps!

This would be nice when choosing the routes option. I have seen 2 routes with the same description, so it is hard to choose.

Waze 3.1 for iOS now lets you review the turn-by-turn list for the route you're currently on! While enroute, bring up the menu and swipe left to get to the "Nav list" button. :-)
I've also found that, when starting navigation to a destination, you can tap the "Routes" button to see a list of alternate routes. On the view showing the list of routes, the "Map" button (upper right) will show you an overhead view of the routes.
I don't think this birds-eye overview is available on the fly though, such as when Waze reroutes you as I described above.

Along with this, it would be great to be able to tell it to avoid any one part of the route (not just a particular route). For example, on the way to Baltimore, there are three sections of 95...two are great to go on, but I like to avoid the section that goes through DC. If I completely avoid 95, that will add forty minutes to my trip unnecessarily. Besides, this turn by turn list would allow me to check that the route chosen is okay.

Please bring back the turn by turn. The app was my favorite with this feature. Now I have to utilize another app along with Waze to determine the most optimal way to go. (iphone and wazer lover)
