Allow option to use device's TTS voice synthesis
The Waze Android client has a decent sounding voice, but Android users can install 3rd party TTS apps. Please give us the option to choose to use the Android Text To Speech synthesis instead.

Yes Please. Allow us to use TTS engines we've paid for to have a single voice that comes out of our phone!. So sick of Alexa having one voice, Google another, Waze a third.... blah blah. I want ONE voice!

It's funny that Google bought Waze and it STILL doesn't use Google's TTS. Stop wasting hundreds of MB of my phone's storage with your own mediocre TTS!!!

No, we are asking developers to stop wasting their time with built-in TTS that is unnecessary and widely non-preferred.
Or, if you *must* keep a built in speech engine , just add a checkbox to select "device default TTS" , or one to "disable internal TTS engine".
On many versions of android including 4.4.4, 5.0.1, 5.1, 5.5, waze will not use system TTS even if you disable google tts, even if you force uninstall google tts. It simply puts it right back and continues using it, spitefully.
I think I am now switching navigation apps for good.

The HIGH quality TTS for my Samsung flagship phones is orders of magnitude superior to all waze voices
It must send street names
Yes, phones plural. I carry two.

i loved waze until google bought them and took the Nuance RealSpeak voices away. It's totally unusable for me now, I cannot STAND the google voices. Not to mention it took all the personality of the app away.

This would make Waze the best navigation app on the market. I love, love, love everything about Waze - except the voice. It's not loud enough and it's staticy and hard to understand in a moving vehicle. The option to use the Google/Android voice or another third-party voice such as IVONA would be an excellent improvement.

Waze default voices are completely unusable: in my language, those are men voices, which get masked enough by my car engine for me not to understand it 90% of the time. So I use a custom language directory, with custom .bin files (renamed mp3s, with a woman voice), and it's finally possible for me to understand what Waze tells me to do.
Of course, those files are not TTS, and they can't tell me street or road names. But it still is much better than the useless default men voices. Which is really ridiculous.
I'd really like to purchase an enjoyable TTS engine, that'd be able to pronounce street and road names, Google would even make a small profit out of such a purchase on the playstore, but as it is, I have no use in buying such a thing (Waze is the only place where I would use TTS).
I don't really hope it will be fixed (this has been annoying me for nearly two years), but should Waze devs fix that dimwitted limitation, it'd probably be the new feature I'd enjoy the most (social crap really gets on my nerve, though: NO, I don't freaking want to tell people when I arrive!!!! I haven't been raised by ferocious boars: people already know when I'm supposed to arrive a lot before I even get in the car).

I run Waze in tandem with Google Navigation to get a good voice. I set Waze to Alerts only while Google Navigation works in the background. Honestly I should not have to do this.
It would be nice if Android version of Waze could have the option to select System voice.
Or better yet use a TTS voice completely based on user's Waze app settings that is installed on users Android phone! Until then Google Navigation voice will be my preferred setup! -

Google made a real effort to provide clear voices in Android built-in TTS engine, even high quality English ones are provided. It's a too bad Waze does allow users to make usage of these voice. It's also true for users who decided to download/buy third party voice engines. Please, add support of 3rd party TTS.

The main concern for me for using device's synthesis is to be able to adjust the speech speed. To me, it sounds like the voice is speaking to a 3 year old, REALLY slow.

Waze is an awesome application. I use it daily. But I would like the ability to select third-party voices like SVOX TTS which provides loud and clear text-to-speech. Is that a feature that might be coming soon?

I find the wake voice just terrible. Hard to understand and is not loud enough. I will use google maps until this is improved.

I can't even understand what waze is telling me half the time because its not loud enough. I also ask that the native Android TTS voices be used instead of waze as a user option.
Ivona is what I will be using.
