A button for HOV or non-HOV
There should be a button to tell Waze whether the car is in the HOV lane. 1), it would help Waze better determine traffic speed since it wouldn't average Wazer's in the HOV lanes with the speeds of those driving slower. 2), the Map would/could show the average speed of HOV or non HOV speeds. A Wazer in the HOV lane could really impact the accurate speed average shown (and vice versa).
Great thinking! The issue you raised has been addressed in a recent redesign. Hope you like it!

Please add a feature to identify whether you're a single occupancy, or have 1, 2, or 3+ passengers.

YES. This needs to be implemented. I can't believe it hasn't been already.

Why isn't there a feature to allow my route time to be aware of carpool lane routes?
My ETA is *always* off because of this.It would be nice to actually have the app tell me the actual time it will take to get somewhere.
Thanks!

This. I carpool every day with the app Scoop. It would be great to have the option to know which routes are optimal for carpools and to receive a closer to accurate eta.

It would be great if waze could calculate the time your route would take if you were in a carpool lane. As it can take less time when in an HOV lane, the arrival time given is usually off. For instance, when I use the I-405, it will want we to take the 1-110 and then the I-101, but then it will tell me that the route using the I-110 is slower than if I had just stayed on the I-405. This is quite annoying and so I would if you could put in either you were using the carpool lane or not.

I agree about the carpool lane being taken into consideration

Add a button to click if we are carpooling, so we can find the fastest route. A lot of times Waze sends me on one freeway when another freeway would have been faster using the carpool lane.

Add option to avoid hov lane because there's hi way entrance hov only in dc area. I got a ticket to enter this hov only entrance to hi-way 66. If Waze has a function to avoid hov , would be perfect

Sheesh...it is super irritating to get sent to a jammed highway and then told to get in HOV lane when I'm single occupancy. Fail!

Good afternoon,
I am a daily Waze user, and have often wondered why the app does not have an option for carpoolers. I think it would tremendously help everyone if there was a switch to indicate if one is carpooling or not. I believe it would provide better ETAs and routes. For example, I can take the carpool lane on the freeway, which may be faster than taking streets as a solo driver. I'd be interested to hear your thoughts!

Could add parking places for carpool users too.

Waze default HOV routing is a huge drawback n L.A. and recently c
ost me a carpool violation ticket. Granted, I should have known better because I'm a local but I was distracted and followed the app's directions to enter the 110 FWY South via a carpool only ramp. PLEASE GIVE US A NO HOV OPTION! I DON'T WANT TO HAVE TO STOP USING WAZE! -

There should be a toggle to designate when you are using carpool(HOV) based on your vehicle's occupancy or if you have an electric vehicle as I do and only use the HOV lane. This would provide me with more accurate ETAs by considering the speed of other vehicles in the HOV lane and it could also change my routing because of the decreased ETA in the HOV lane. Also, by making it a toggle, you could turn it on or off based on your vehicle occupancy for non electric vehicle drivers. Thanks for considering.

As many have mentioned, Waze desperately needs a switch in settings to indicate whether your vehicle is HOV compliant so it can determine whether a certain route is faster if it knows you can use HOV lanes. I would take it one step further and suggest a checkbox on the main map to let Waze know whether you are currently in an HOV lane so when it calculates the speeds of the traffic flow, it understands which cars are in the HOV lane (normally too close to other lanes for GPS to figure out the difference and truly understand which lane you are in).

How do they not have an HOV component yet? It is so frustrating! I never know if I should trust the re-routing advice. Sometimes I do and as I drive away I see the HOV lane zooming past the log jam. Ugh!

The Washington State Department of Transportation now provides real-time toll rates for the I-405 express toll lanes as a publicly available live data stream for software developers. The API is publicly available here: http://wsdot.wa.gov/traffic/api/ , along with several other live data streams including traffic flow, travel times, and highway cameras.
We would love to see this data integrated into the Waze app to help drivers make more informed choices about their route options.
