School zone speeds vary in my area, so leave an option to enter the posted speed, along with times.

Great Idea

School Zone detail:
1) Warn when approaching a school zone, allowing enough time to bring speed under control before entering school zone.
2) Specify school zone speed limit prior to entering school zone.
3) If school zone specifies "no cell phones", so state prior to entering
school zone.
4) Repeated warnings every 30 seconds that driver is in a school zone, until driver clears the school zone, and repeat speed limit for the school zone every 30 seconds until driver clears the school zone and warn the driver if the school zone speed limit is exceeded, every time it is exceeded
5) Announce when the school zone is cleared by the vehicle.

I'd like to see active school zones on my map so I could avoid them. I consider the kiddies to be hazards. :)

Report where there's a school zone as a hazard and/or separate option to avoid when schools are letting out.

In Nassau County NY, one of the most densely populated counties in the US, they have recently deployed variety of fixed and mobile speed cameras. The law permits one speed camera location to be operational in each school zone in the County. To make enforcement more $$ efficient, they have deployed a fleet of mobile speed vans that move from school zone to school zone each day. Waiting for map edits to list these temporary cameras is too slow. Waze needs a reporting option that will alert to one of these temporary speed cameras for the period 0600-1800 hours on the day reported. Nassau County is attempting to generate 35-60 million dollars per year with these cameras, and Waze is the only tool capable of combating this issue. The reporting option should alert based on proximity ( NY defines a school zone as roughly 1300 feet around a school) and should allow reporter to enter the reduced speed limit. The report should not be readily deletable unless deleted by multiple different Wazers to prevent removal by the County. To give an indication of how valuable this update would be, Nassau County had to refund almost 3 million dollars in fines generated during the first three weeks of the cameras operation due to insufficient signage. #schoolzone #mobilespeedcamera #nassaucounty

Have locations of school zones mapped.

Parks as well as they are constantly missed when driving in new areas.

Why isn't their a waze option to mark school zones? It would prevent speeding, tickets and danger to kids.

railroad crossings would be another useful safety enhancment

once it has been reported, start & end time, to have the map turn it on automatically with the speed of traffic (usually 15mph)

This is a great idea, especially since here in Chicago they are talking about adding Cameras to catch speeders in school zones just like red light cameras.

Please add the ability to add school zones from your phone before the next school year in NA. Thanks
