This is a critical feature for me. Two fingers to zoom while driving is unacceptable

It’s not safe to use two fingers to zoom in and out and it’s just as unsafe to use that silly thing in the top left corner to tap and hold and then slide up or down. Plus that little widget only allows you to zoom in or out of the center of the map, never according to a specific place on the maps. Please make it like google or Apple Maps where when you double tap and slide your finger, it zooms in and out according to where your finger is placed and not just centered by default

Android has a very intuitive functionality to zoom in/out. Double tap anywhere on the screen (hold the finger on the screen on the second tap) and drag up/down to zoom in/out.

Besides being quicker, this would also be safer while driving which is a prime focus for Waze.

I wish you could double tap and hold on the map and then drag your finger to zoom the map in and out. Having to tap on the +- button then tap to zoom is not easy when trying to check the map, especially when driving. Google maps and Apple Maps both have a feature where you double tap on the map and hold, then drawing your finger zooms the map in and out.

Great idea, i was about to suggest the same when i thought this is so native someone should have suggested it already and boom.
Please implement this feature.

Controls such as zoom in and zoom out are too small to use and thus too difficult especially while driving. Having to tap on his room and then tap plus or minus seems like more task then should be meeting. Would prefer to minimize the amount of taps required to perform intended actions.

Zooming out should be accomplished with a two-finger tap on the map, just like the native google map.

Having to tap to bring out the controls, then visually locate the proper button and steady your finger to tap the correct button takes too much concentration away from driving.
