Implement burn-in protection for AMOLED-Displays
Many users of mobiles with AMOLED-Displays report severe burn-in when using Waze on an regular basis.
Please implement an option to activate a real good working burn-in protection.
- Switching off (no dimming, the pixels must really be off!) the whole map if nothing interesting must be shown (no speed camera, no car on shoulder, no turn in 1 km or less).
and
- Rasterize next-turn bar, speedometer, report button, ETA-bar AND shift them a few pixels once per minute. (BTW: this is normal behavior on smartwatches used with display always-on for years)
Thank you for your suggestion!
The Report button was designed to be noticed while blending in and it’s important to keep it as is.
However, we will revisit this idea when working on Dark mode, in the future. Furthermore, since this is a physical issue that OLED phones suffer from in different apps, we recommend to use Battery Saver mode to allow your display some rest from bright colors that might lead to this dysfunction.
Stay tuned for more features and updates on Waze’s social pages on Facebook and Instagram.

Wow i got a new phone and i hate the idea that this will happen again and burn in - can you rotate the colours of the controls on screen every 5 minutes if you wont let us move it around??
horrible on my S22 Ultra, now going to happen on my S24 :( :( :( -

Severe burn in on my Note 3, Note 4 and Note Edge. On my Note 9, it's not as bad because I rotate the phone every 30 minutes or so, but it still has a slight burn on both ends now. This is a stupid problem to be having in this day and age. Waze should have only a moving map visible (no icons or buttons) until you tap the screen.
I use voice command most of the time, so I can do without the buttons -

Same here, my old phone is worthless because of burn in. Please just remove fixed buttons, until driver taps on the map screen. This should fix the burn in. My Galaxy S7 edge has major burn in of the triangle (car) the orange alert button, and the speed button. I have now the new pixel phone, I am trying not to use Waze as much or keeping the screen off with just voice directions. I drive 24k a year, 2 hours commute a day. Don't just blame the manufacture of the phones screen. It's an easy fix on your part.

The Waze display should show ONLY the map while moving on a route and the controls should disappear until you tap the screen.
I just got a new phone and will not use Waze until this issue is addressed. It really is stupid to have your map controls constantly on the screen while driving. They should not be there at all unless you touch the screen. THis is not rocket science!

Adding my vote to this. I've noticed the orange Report button has been burned into my Galaxy S8. There should be user options to hide these permanent icons.

My S8 also has burn in issues from Waze. I now lock the phone on long drives and only listen to voice prompts. This is not a fix but I would suggest switching off the display and only wake during turn or emergency events. Then go right back to dark screen

100% agree my last 2 phones have had waze screen burn in, i have even gone to lengths of creating my own map colours to prevent it. Simple solution would be to allow battery saving mode to be on permanently. Instead of having to turn it on for each drive.

On my third phone since religiously using waze, now this one is complete with the prominent orange circle burned into the lower right corner. I'm sure the rest on the burn in spots aren't far behind... I mean, at least change the big orange dot to a different color scheme not so prone to burning in? That would be a start.
