Navigate shortest route
With the new update you all took away the option to search by shortest route available or Fastest route available. Please bring this function back.

Fastest or shortest routes options need to be easier to get to.

My idea is for delivery workers
the input is: 1) place of city 2) streets and numbersThe algorithm: create the most shortest path by using all addresses in number 2 which are inside the city in number 1.
The output: shortest path from the location of the user.

That number is infinite, so impossible to do...maybe you want to see all the fastest and shortest options to make a decision? If so, let Waze make the suggestion then hit the blue "routes" button at the bottom of the screen. It will show you several options which you can choose from.

Waze could advise me that although it is recommending the quickest route, that this route is xx miles longer but yy minutes quicker than the shortest route. I can select "It's OK" to continue or "shorter route" to choose the shorter, slightly longer route.

We would like to see all routes possible when choosing a destination,
Regardless our definitions are "the fastest" or "the shortest"! Please. Thank you. -

My thought here is that the app should optimize time and distance. Last night we were in familiar territory. Waze picked a route that was 8.1 miles but 22 minutes, whereas the usual route is 9.5 miles and 12 minutes. If the user selects "shortest" and the app is just ranking distances without any other adjustments (picks 8.1 20 minutes over 8.3 15 minutes), that seems silly. Meanwhile, we are switching over to "fastest"! :)

It would be very helpful to be able to switch between shortest and fastest route with one click, without having to go into settings first.
It is not always possible to go into settings while you are driving.
This would be helpful when you are stuck in traffic for eg, or running late and you can then change the route to what you prefer with one click -

Create a new route type that will cause Waze to suggest the most direct route. Which is the one that stays on the major roads for most of the route and has the least number of turns. I find that the constant course corrections with the "Fastest" route type can be a bit overwhelming, and the "Shortest" route type can bring me into neighborhoods that I might not want to be in.

Usually I want the quickest route, but not at the expense of a long detour.

You can change Fast for Shortest in the Settings.

Sometimes Waze indicates a "faster" route that I'd prefer NOT to adopt, because the additional distance may be insane for very few time gain. (See real life examples below.)
It could be great to have an ECO ROUTE option where I prefer to keep the shortest way, even if it takes 10-20% more time.
Ex.1: in short paths, Waze gives me a route 50% farther to get there only 1 ou 2 minutes before the estimated time from the shortest way.
Ex.2: Waze send me to the local street to return to the express street only half mile ahead.
Even going by the "fastest" route, in most cases the estimated "gain" in time doesn't occurs in real life. (In fact, sometimes it takes longer after all...)

it would be nice to be able to pick the best route out of surface and highway roads, not just one or the other. as in, list all optimal 'quickest' or 'shortest' routes, not limited to highway OR non-highway.

that is already there it is under your settings

In practice, and in many situations, we want to switch from most direct path (but never suggested by Wase) to the path suggested by Waze and taking into account the traffic situation:
- "Direct Path" does not take into account traffic information, and depending on the setting of Waze (the most direct / shortest)
- "Path Waze recommended by" taking into account traffic conditionsThe ideal would be to have two representations at the same time on the map (represented by two colors) and a direct button to switch to the other parcour.

When you add a destination, ask if you want the shortest route, or the fastest route.
