Activate "picture in picture" (PIP). With Gmaps you can have the map superimposed on another application

    I often receiving a phone calls while driving and I have to switch to waze after each end of call. G-maps contains this function, in other ways is useless for me at all. Floating window is great compromise between black screen and missing navigation.

    Display over apps is not working. There is no pop-up window. I have enabled - Always on Top in settings and also enabled Display Over apps

    Waze is great! the traffic, the closed roads for cicling, the speed cameras, however, i have to use google maps because i use to hear youtube videos while driving. A floating window would be awesome!

    Clearly they AREN'T interested in new options, this was suggested 5 years ago... and this is the reason I don't use WAZE any longer...

    literally only reason I dont use Waze.

    Even Sygic does the mini floating window guys, get on it... :/

    Waze should stay open and minimalize to a floating window just like google maps does. I love waze but this is the one reason i still use google maps.

    Add PIP to Waze, come on, its the 1 thing that is reallly missing. Its hard to go back to Waze after using this in Google Maps.

    Lacks PIP, not useful. For people like me who depend on GPS on the road on a daily basis, it is critical that the map stays on top, regardless of what other tasks we may be using our smartphones for. It appears that Waze fans have been asking for this feature for several years and that Waze has acknowledge the requirement, yet to this date nothing has been done about it, which means that there are also gaps between what users want and what Waze customer service does.

    Floating window option seems critical. Ease of use in case I get a call or view notification. Still I can have an eye on navigation

    In Google maps, this is a very useful feature, you can simultaneously watch the navigation and turn on some kind of application.
    And also thanks to this mode, there will be less lags, since now, when switching between applications, the vase may no longer adequately determine your location.

    I only use Google maps because of this feature would switch to waze permanently if waze had this

    A floating Waze map, so I can use other apps it while walking. I have to switch to Google Maps a lot in order to do that.

    I think you're being ironic. We asked for this a long time ago. I think the company that owns Android imposes some sanctions. Business are business.
