In the UK, we use yards not feet for short road distances - Tom Tom, Garmin and other sat navs all use yards - please change from feet to yards. This will also stop my passengers from laughing when they hear the announcements in feet. Thanks.

This thread has been going on since 2013 so I don't expect anything to change soon. However, if you don't ask you don't get.

I don't think we in the UK have mixed signage of miles and metres. If we're using Imperial units it's miles and yards.

At the moment, I get some directions in decimal miles, 1.1, 1.2, etc. Others though are in fractions of miles for 1 1/4, 1 1/2, 1 3/4. My preference would be to keep the quarter, half and three quarters and have all the others in yards.

I've seen elsewhere that others mentally convert what is said into their "internal" units. I too do this, i.e. 1000ft being a bit over 300yds but it's amazing how much the small amount of brain power required to do this takes so much concentration on the road.

The solution is, of course, to make everything configurable like major units of kilometres or miles and minor units of metres, yards and feet.

The dificulty, I imagine, is for the existing voice recordings needing to be upgraded considerably.

Actually in the UK we use Miles and metres. All road signs use either miles or metres now, yards are also depreciated.

Decimal miles is fine, but miles and metres please! The easiest way to acheive this is to allow control over all units used.

We need UK settings - no one here uses feet to measure road distances. come on US lets get a world view you never know you may end up using A4 paper one day !!

Waze = brilliant. Inability to choose yards and not feet, completely absurd and renders it useless as being too distracting for UK users

Allow user to set their own preference for various displays in Waze. For each dialogue or group of report types allow users to say which unit they would want to see:
e.g. miles, decimal miles, KM, decimal km, meters, yards, feet

Personally I would like long distances in miles/decimals but short distances in meters (this matched best to roadsigns and education in the UK).

Maybe also "about x seconds away at current speed" for some reports.

I stopped using WAZE for this reason as I couldn't get past being distracted by distances called out in feet.

All other maps use yards/miles or metres/Km. Truly bizarre as nobody thinks in feet and feet are never used to describe distances on roads.

Use DISTANCE not time for navigation audible directions. When driving, distance is the only measurement. If I have 52 miles to my next action, the time to get there can vary with conditions, but the distance will not change. Hearing "continue for one hour and 3 minutes" has no value because if conditions change, I may only travel 30 miles. It is easy for a driver to estimate time based on distance and current speed. Additionally, the screen will always update estimated arrival time.

I don't use the program because I get directions like "turn left in 11,500 feet." Who in the hell has a conception of that when they are driving and having to make fast decisions for those ridesharing companies that treat their drivers so much better than their passengers (not). I relate to yards, smaller "feets", tenths of a mile and miles. Better yet, why not count down the turn to 9/10ths, 8/10ths, 7/10ths, etc.? That way someone can glance down at their trip or main odometer and be in sync. Also, why is voice navigation like Google's taking so long to incorporate?

Or if yards are a problem, could we have miles and meters (I know it appears illogical, but increasingly we are using metric units other than for motoring where longer distances are still in miles, and speed in mph)
