North = Up!
PLEASE, for the Love of God, give us a preference that will keep North pointing UP on the device! i practically can't use Waze (tho i REALLY want to) because it keep spinning around on me - drives me crazy - i grew up with paper maps & north was always "up" - having it spin to the direction i'm driving is driving me bonkers! :-)
aside from that, the app rocks!
Great thinking! The issue you raised has been addressed in a recent redesign. Hope you like it!

Waze is junk without this. . Don't use it anymore.

I want north to stay up too! It reverts back randomly during use, and really messed us up.

The lock north feature works for directions and I have no issue with turning that off or on. I typically leave it off. But I would like for the map to always lock north when searching for a destination. I get really turned around looking at the map when I am searching for something and it has caused me to pick the wrong destination a few times. Additionally, if the search on map doesnt lock to north, make the compass always available on that display. Just something to make finding a place easier.

This is a must have. When zooming out map basically does a full circle. Very hard to focus while in a rush. Maybe if you double or triple tap the navigation circle it can lock? Thank you

In the previous versions of Waze I was able to lock the display so that the top of the iPhone screen was always oriented to the north. This newest version doesn't have this option(that I can see). Now the map is always rotating the cardinal directions which is really annoying. The lack of this feature makes me use Waze much less than the previous version which I used everyday. Please bring this feature back to Waze.

I agree. Would always like to have north up as on a paper map.

I know > 20 people who use Waze because it's great, but have the same complaint: The map is bad. I recently discovered this can be change, but no one seems to know. So I suggest making it easier to access those settings, or simply making them default:
1/ 2D
2/ Always pointing north
3/ Without so much info clustering the map. Sometimes we don't know where to turn because we see so many "Wazer icon bubles" that hide the roads. -

Re. Previous comment! Humble Pie time.....problem was that Waze was set to 'Lock North Up Mode' on. It should be off, map does not rotate now. Sorry ;-))

I know three people, plus myself, who have uninstalled Waze!
Utterly useless with a constantly rotating map, only a matter of time before it causes an accident. Giggle should have got Waze FREE! -

I can't believe that this only has 9 votes! The 3D view is useless to me, because I know an area by the overhead map. When the map is constantaly spinning, it is disorienting. It seems like it would not be a difficult addition to have a 2D map that always has north pointing up. There is a function already built in that spins the maps to that position, so why not just make it so it doesn't spin at all?

Seems to be fixed in newer versions. Drawback for North up is that screen is not used optimally.

Separate "North up" preferences for 2D and 3D viewing modes. For example, I prefer North up in 2D mode, but not in 3D mode.

Have to agree with everyone else. Locking in a North Up as default in settings. Besides that I love my Waze.

Good god, how difficult is this really?
Allow us to lock the Zoom and Direction. It seems so utterly simple, at most 3 programmer days and 3 QA days. The lack of these features just make the navigation unusable.. I have missed SEVERAL turns just because I wasn't sure what direction I am going and where I need to go (and the GPS was with no reception for a few seconds, so the alert wasn't raised).
Just like others, I rely on other navigation apps because of this, and just use Waze for way alerts.
Is this what you want from your users?
