Report "Road closed": choose a certain segment of road ahead as closed
Marked my first closed road today when a truck was burning on the highway... it's really great that it's possible to notify others of road closures now!
But (there's always a but, isn't there?) it should be possible to mark a closure ahead, not right where I am. I marked it right when I left the highway, which only closed the little piece of highway between the off- and on-ramp. It was impossible to mark the highway after the on-ramp where the truck was burning as closed... :(
When I needed to mark a closed road on my old gps unit, it provided some buttons like 100m, 200m, 500m, 1km ahead where the road was really inaccessible.
I like the way waze lets me choose the arrow as to which directions is closed. But I couldn't figure out how mark another spot. I just tried to scroll the map up and touch the road ahead, but that didn't work. I'd say that would be the natural way to mark a closure...

So the only way to report a road closure is when you are close to it! 😳 I may be a freak but when I know a road is closed I find it best to avoid it! I also can’t use my phone while I am driving and the road that’s closed has nowhere near the closure where you can pull in and still see the arrows! I did take the trouble to go out of my way to go to one end of the closure of and I reported it but Waze is still trying to take me in at the other end log the closed road every morning on the school run.
Locals will know to avoid it but this road runs through-a major tourist attraction so the poor tourists will be caught out and have to make a big detour.
I filed a report on Google maps and it was so easy to do from the comfort of my own home. So it’s Google maps for me until the road reopens which by the way could be months from now. -

Not fully available yet.
I still cannot report closure in both directions.
The road options pop up VERY SLOWLY on iphone.
I cannot mark a road as closed that I just PASSED, wheather navigation is on or not; it is not one of the road options. I don't want to block traffic behind me just to enter it on Waze.

Agreed. He should be able to mock any road closed, not just the ones they think you want to report.

1) Ditto about the importance of being able to report road closure after leaving the location.
2) Should also be able to tap specific start & end location of closure on the map.
3) Also - need arrows in EVERY direction at both start & end point --
4) AND should be able to be able to report closure in BOTH DIRECTIONS SIMULTANEOUSLY - not just one direction.
5) Finally -- need to be able to remove road closure after u post it in case it was an accidental post - or the post went thru wrong - or u see it's no longer closed.
HERE'S WHY / WHAT JUST HAPPENED:
Was driving & discovered complete road closure in the middle of a side street. I tried to report it, but it would only let me report it at an intersection. It also only gave me arrows in three directions. I wasn't able to select the right direction or segment of road - or even just a smaller, specific segment. So in trying to send the report, it accidentally reported the wrong segment of street. I turned around, and shortly afterward when I was able to, I tried to report the correct closure. WAZE wouldn't let me do it: I could neither report anywhere other than my current location & direction -- nor could I go back to report the closure. I couldn't even remove the erroneous closure report that went thru accidentally. Please fix this! Thanks

Something similar happened to me. The load closure was advertised, but I could not report it, because I drove to another direction.

Excellent idea. If I might expand on the idea, perhaps there could also be a place on the website to report road closures an indefinite distance away.
For example, today in Harvard Square is a fair that's closing the area to automobile traffic 6am to 9pm. Waze is completely oblivious to these road closures (as shown by route suggestions). Sitting here at home I know about the closures from public announcements and can even point to the website that describes them, but have no way of reporting them unless I drive right up to the area--and there's no way I'm going anywhere near there today. The way things are set up right now, it's as if we only know about what's right outside the windshield.
So today, Waze is pretty much useless to navigate the area.
I'm also thinking of public-safety road closures. Friday after the marathon bombing here in Boston, the authorities had everyone stay indoors in a few towns. There's no way to report these closures--unless I want to risk arrest. How's some out-of-towner who's depending on Waze to navigate supposed to know about this?
