CB-like push-to-talk (walkie-talkie) button to talk to wazers around you.
CB-like push-to-talk button to talk to wazers around you in an adjustable radius area or on the same road. This would be a very used feature in Romania, where CB transceivers are very used in cars. Many people who do not have a physical one would use the Waze alternative, and many would switch from physical CB to waze.
Great thinking! We’ll share with the team; they’re always interested in new feature ideas.

Have a push to talk function similar to two-way radio that you can connect to other drivers but using VoIP instead of radio.
It would be great for those traffic jams where you want to know what's the hold up up front.
Features: - Can be turned on and off (mandatory)
- While stationary can be accessible by phone directly, but disabled (grayed out touch button) while moving. Only accessed while moving using handsfree/bluetooth connection by answer calls button on headset/steering wheel controls.
- GPS based, only connect to a limited range. You can only hear people and speak to them in a limited area based on range. Suggested max 50 km with adjustable reception/transmission range under that limit. -

I just had the same idea, coming from Romania as well! so sad this feature is missing... and too few people voting it.
there is plenty of room in the user interface for this. it should be a toggle in the settings that would show/hide PTT button and a mute button, in case some drivers would abuse with bad language. or it could be a single button, single tap = mute/unmute, tap and hold = speak.
maybe this could be an idea for a dedicated app, but we’d have to keep it open all the time, thus missing the map on display...
