Car Play phone view switch
When connected via Car Play, the map can only be seen on the car. The turn-by-turn list is the only thing you see on the phone screen. I want the ability to see the map on the phone too. When re-routing occurs I often want to view the route to see if I want to go a different way. Trying to pinch/move/navigate the car screen is hard, and becomes unsafe very quickly. Pinching/moving on the phone is much easier and ultimately safer.

iOS 18.4 apparently removed the ability to disable apps on CarPlay. It is now more pressing for people like me who want to connect to CarPlay for other apps but keep Waze running on the phone.
Previously I was able to disable Waze from the system CarPlay customization settings. Now that settings changed to "customize home screen icons", and no longer stops Waze from projecting to the cluster.
I see one app that implemented this switch: Organic Maps which is an openstreetmap app with turn by turn navigation. Once you start navigation, the phone will have a "switch navigation to the phone" button, and once you press it, like it says navigation will only show on the phone. The CarPlay screen will then only show a "switch navigation to CarPlay" button. I think this is a good implementation given the limitation of CarPlay.

Please make a map available to see on the phone when it’s connected to the CarPlay it is very inconvenient to see the overall route that waze suggesting. Sometimes I want to see the whole map in order to decide how to go. It is available in Google Maps and it’s very convenient. I mean not the verbal descriptions of the turns, and the names of the streets s as of course I have no idea how this streets ts are called. I want to see the physical map on the phone while it’s connected to the CarPlay.
