Camera alerts
In Australia we have new cameras that photograph non seatbelt and mobile phone useage. Is there any way alerts can include these type of cameras ??
Hey,
We're happy to share that this idea is already live!
Thanks!

Absolutely agree, we need more specificity when it comes to police reports especially given how many kinds of revenue raising methods there are these days. Would be a lifesaver Waze

Don't forget about seatbelt cams! I recon these 2 types can be combined.

As at late 2023 this feature is well overdue... There are more and more Mobile/Cel phone camera traps around her in Australia, in quite random locations and the ability differentiate camera type is badly needed. You need to know what type you're looking out for as the mobile phone cameras look radically different from speed traps and obviously have no effect on speed you're travelling, yet people are using the speed trap function to report them as there is no alternative currently.

Agree, great idea. There is a camera on a pole, on a nearby dual lane ring road where I live, specifically to detect if you are using a Mobile Phone.

Australia has combined cell phone, seatbelt cameras, so we need to be able to add this new type of camera.

Hello, Melbourne (Victoria) has introduced Smart Phone Cameras to fine people for using smart devices while driving. At the moment, people are reporting with the only available option of the "Police" icon, but that creates confusion as people are looking out for Police or Mobile Speed Camera vehicles. These cameras are pop-up type and are constantly moved at random, so if there's an icon showing a phone with some sort of orange or red background, it would make more sense. Additionally, Citylink has also bolted on new cameras on the e-tag overhangs, which is somewhat suspicious, so if this could be looked into, it would be great.

J think it would be a great idea to distinguish between different types of law enforcement, particularly in Australia. At the moment, mobile speed cameras, police and mobile phone detection cameras are all reported as “police”. To better improve this process, I think it would be a good idea to have a “law enforcement” report option (replaces current “police”, then the options such as “mobile speed camera”, “police”, “phone detection”. The “phone detection” and “mobile speed camera” should also have the option to report on the opposite side of the road like the “police” option currently has.

These are also throughout Queensland, Australia as well.
The Phone Detection Cameras, also check if you are wearing a seat belt. So these should be shown in the Reports section of Waze as a Seat Belt and Phone Detection Camera.
These should be able to be added via voice commands whilst driving, or whilst stationery. These come as fixed or temporary mobile units just like the speed traps.

Currently you can add two types of camera's on Waze: A red light camera and a speed camera. However, in Belgium there's a rollout of camera's who specifically check whether or not you are actively using your smartphone. It would be nice to point those out on the map as well.

List where cameras are that photograph if you touch your phone it’s ridiculous as if stopped can’t check anything yet you can drive and eat

I recommend you support this existing suggestion, which has been added to the backlog.

In australia, police have a camera that looks into your cabin of your vehicle as you are driving to detect if you are using your cellphone whilst driving. It is illegal to do so in Australia.
Is it possible to add this type of camera in the Cameras selection in Waze? -
