I have essentially stopped using WAZE because of this. It drains the battery and you have to select never in the setting of your phone. Google Maps now. I have had many people tell me the same thing. Change to "Allow while using" option!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I second that! I'm considering removing the app because it has no business knowing where I am at all times. This is an ethical issue and makes me distrust the WAZE app.

The latest version of Waze for iPhone is using the GPS signal client all day long, what basically just drain the battery in a few hours. The only option that we have in the privacy , is Enable GPS or Disable GPS. But Apple allow developers a third option that is Enable GPS when the APP is Open. Why you don't allow users to see this option ?

Location Services settings for iOS 9 only has "Always" and "Never" options. Please add the option "When App is in use".

Really annoyingregarding the location services always on. Nothing changed after suggestion. I believe this suggestion box is only suggest and no one care about what you had suggested.

I don't like that Waze is using my location every single minute of the day. One fix is to enable the setting in iOS to allow location only when using the app.

However, I've linked my calendar and like to get notifications when I should leave. It seems like it could do this in a smarter more battery efficient way.

If I don't have an appointment with a location on it for the day, the app doesn't need to use my location in the background. If there's an appointment 6 hours out, I'm likely not 6 hours away, it could check my location 2 or 3 hours before the appointment. At the most it should only check in hourly to see how far I am from my next appointment. Or half hour, maybe this is a setting each user could adjust.

I usually keep my GPS/Location Services settings to "only when app is in use," so as to save battery and for privacy. Waze wants to run at all times even in the background when I am not using the app. I now have to manually have to go in and out of my iPhone settings to turn GPS on and off for this Waze. Please implement a "when app is in use only" option for the Location Services settings.

Please fix this, Waze! I've had to stop using the app except for long trips because I'm not going through the hassle of turning on/off location services for Waze all the time. I've gotten at least two dozen people to join Waze, but I can no longer advocate for the app. :(

The privacy setting only gives you 2 options; Never and Always. I recommend adding 'while using'. I don't want the app running in the background with access to my location while I'm not using it.

this would be extremely convenient for saving battery!!!! I am currently using google maps which I hate, only because it doesn't drain my battery when the app is off. Please include in next update.

PLEASE change location services from "always" to "only while using the app"...this is the only thing that keeps me from using Waze when I drive. No I use it just to check traffic and toggle the location on and off as needed which is really annoying. There is no need for the app to know my location while I'm not using the app. Additionally, it drains the battery. PLEASE, add this option. It cannot be that hard.

Ditto, MizLiberty's comment. Always on and Never are insufficient options in iOS 9 or ANY version. Please be considerate of our battery life.

This STILL looks to be the issue with iOS 9 version. I thought they fixed it- but it looks to be back again. (Sigh)
"Always" and "Never" aren't good options for GPS- if other non-GPS can handle adding the 3rd option of "While Using", why can't my beloved Waze do the same? Waze is no help if you have a dead battery and need directions somewhere!
I'm sure that there are rival GPS apps that have this feature.

Please! Shutting waze down(to preserve battery life) takes way too many steps right now. Google maps "location services while using" is a very nice solution.

Battery life is more important than geofence suggestions asking me if I'm headed home.
