have an alert when waze is directing you into a high crime area
have an audible alert or color code when waze is directing you into a high crime area. Often locals avoid those areas and they will therefore have less traffic. But not always a good idea to go into those areas especially at night.
Great thinking! We’ll share with the team; they’re always interested in new feature ideas.

I really hope the guys at waze see this. I've been taken through Alex waay too many times.
Single female driving through Alex at night... I should have had a big neon sign saying -'high Jack victim in waiting' -

One risk of this would be that people could single out communities as dangerous based on personal bias

Around the globe, every place have some dangerous areas and will be great the option to avoid this in Waze.
To get this information, users can report incidents and with the system automatically flag as dangerous. Another possibility in integrate Waze with public services like https://www.addressreport.com and public statistics. -

This could also work in Mexico!

hi , i live in South Africa , 2 days in a row now Waze has taken me through bad areas , Wednesday it tried to take me through the cape flats from the airport , and yesterday it decided to take me through Alexandra townships , probably 2 of the most violent places in south Africa , can you not give an option to avoid high crime areas ? based on statistics , or on the common knowledge of locals in that area

Could you add a bar that decreases until the end of the risk zone?

I live in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. We are facing a huge problem with navigation and I am sure that you can help us to solve this major problem. Sometimes the shortest navigation is in a Rio de Janeiro's slum (Favelas) and some of them are really dangerous. People had been shooting when they are driving inside a Favela and some people are dying because of that. PLEASE, add an if statement when the direction is to a slum, you can save lives doing it!

I just read a note of some tourists (great old) in Rio de Janeiro who came to risk area and a lady was killed. "http://cnnespanol.cnn.com/2015/10/06/una-mujer-muere-a-tiros-al-entrar-por-error-en-una-favela-de-rio-de-janeiro/"
So, I propose that Waze implement color and voice alerts, according to the area where it is located the place we search.
Each city has identified the districts or dangerous places, where it´s recommended to avoid.
Example:
Blue: Tourist area
Red: Danger Zone
Yellow: Caution location
Orange: Crowded places
etc...And in the search highlight the color of the options presented.
The route can handle sections colors that crosses the route.
I hope my proposal will help in some way.

Maybe the system before start driving could inform that this specif area is near a slum or a dangerous community. In Rio de Janeiro we have information about the slums and risk areas and maybe the system can prevent before start driving saying that this address is near a dangerous community.

due to problems in the Rio de Janeiro related to public safety where people are being murdered in slums, I suggest the elaboration of any indication in the risk areas of application.
This could be done based on the security information public state for example. -

Please do this, or at least allow Wazers to flag areas that may be considered unsafe. Waze has been directing me towards some very unsafe areas lately. Fortunately I know the city I commute in well so I can just ignore what Waze is telling me until it starts directing me into safer areas, but I worry for people from out of town who may not know what they're getting into.

It's a very important feature that I think have to be implemented even if just as a hazard report. Unfortunately, due to Microsoft's patent, a sophisticated system can't be created and implemented on Waze and any other application.
Please find a legal and adequate way to implement this feature. I can't keep ending up in dangerous and unknow roads or areas, risking my life just because I don't know how to reach that new (and unknown) place!
