I have stopped using your app until this gets fixed. Absolutely atrocious product planning to remove the option to only use GPS while tapp is open. Give your users the option! not force us down your broken road.

I used Waze since its early years, and after finding out about this constant location-tracking, I started disabling Location Services unless I was using Waze. I figured they would fix it eventually. They did not - after all, Google/Waze is providing valuable spy services to the NSA and the CIA; why would they ever change this "feature?" Today I uninstalled Waze for good.

Yea, I've noticed his too. It's a pain. I don't want hisbusing GPS while I'm indoors sitting at my desk.

I'm now not using Waze because of the fact I cannot only use location services while using the app. It makes no sense to be tracking while not using the app.

This new update is draining my battery and don't like the location as being always or never. Bring back whilst using. Have to manually turn location to never just to save battery making the app useless

Please remove the nag screen too while at this as thats rather annoying and doesnt actually matter. Ignoring the high accuracy just seems to disable the cellular/wifi network tracking aspect anyways. GPS only works fine is plenty accurate and can calculate speed based upon reception from GPS satellites.

For Android, at least, consider adding an optional setting so when we open the Waze app, it will automatically set the GPS location to High accuracy? And conversely, when we turn Waze off it will automatically set the GPS Location back to Battery saving (or a pop-up would confirm Battery saving or No, Stay in High accuracy).

I like the Waze app even better than my nice G_rm_n GPS unit! Keep up the great work. Thank you.

You have to turn the app off though

Go to settings>General>Location change reporting.

Switch it off. This gets rid of the location arrow on my iphone, which I'm hoping will stop the constant battery drain. I've only just discovered this now so may/may not work. Worth a go though -

Yes, please fix this!! I have a cheap Android 4.X phone in my car dedicated to using Waze and a music app. I also have been having the issue where the only way to get location services to stop draining battery after closing Waze is to restart my phone. I try new versions from time to time but always end up rolling back to v3.9.4.0. I have my car-dedicated phone setup for battery saving when not in use and with the old 3.9.x version of Waze the battery drains less than 1% every 24 hours but once I install a new version of Waze it starts draining 20% to 40% every 24 hours when not in use. That is crazy!!

Seriously this needs to happen ASAP. Pretty much makes the app unusable. Deciding if I should just turn its location services on and off manually every time I use it or if I should delete the app all together because It drains my battery soooo quickly. Super disappointing because it is the best navigation app out there...

Please change it . It is really inconvenient because every time want to use it has to go setting to change it . If open always all the time the battery very fast gone .
