--ATTENTION---

Like many other's, from the first time I selected I was interested on "Planned Drive" I was struggling with this app always using my location. I know the science behind it (It has to know where you are so it can tell you when yo leave, duh. Don't be a bunch of paranoids)
But still, I was worried about my battery life since don't use this feature every day.

+Go to SETTINGS inside the app. In General, turn off "Location change reporting".
AND
Go to "Planned Drive" and tap "Calendar Sync" (Even if it doesn't look like its off)... Make sure you DENY the access or turn off it's privileges.

Exit waze from the iOS multitask manager and you'll notice right away its won't be using your location.

If problem persists, just re-download Waze and REFUSE to use planned drives the first time it asks you to.

Since the new Waze version 4.11.0 do not have 'while using' at 'on' location service, I have switched location service to 'Never' on. and have been using Google maps instead. Waze should really look into this coz people would not want to use Waze 'always on location service' as it drains the battery.

please provide option to -while using app- for such a clever app, it seems to be quite stone age to have to manually disable the location issues rather than simply providing the while using function.

Steps to stop Location tracking:
1) turn off 'Settings -> General -> Location change reporting'

2) turn off calendar sync from 'planned drive' under settings.

I would like to ask you about sleep mode in iOS app (iPhone 6, soft. 9.3.5.) - when I push the button and the app turns into sleep mode, then when I go to another app, f. e. messages, Waze app turns on in backround and get acces to location services, drains battery etc. Is there any solution how to turn off the app when I don't want to use it? Now I have to go to settings everytime and turn off the access to location... it's quite annoying. Please add the option "WHILE USING". Thanks a lot!

I agree, it is very very annoying. I started to use waze only for very long trip, and to use the iOS maps instead, because I have to disable manually the "location services"

I have 3 iphones..All with Waze. That option 'location change reporting' does not show up in the Waze app, under Settings in the General section. If 'hidden' how does one unhide it????

For everyone saying that there is no control for "location change reporting" - You're Looking In The Wrong Place - It's not in iPhone Settings. It's in THE APP ITSELF. Open Waze. Upper left corner, open "Settings." Open "General." Turn off the offending feature.

Not sure what that came from. Apple does think of privacy a lot, I agree, but that doesn't mean anyone else don't think of it either.

I have many other apps that use location settings, but they are only on While Using that App, Waze just has an All or Nothing, Draining my battery if I forget to turn it off after my drive (usually do, as I just lock and pocket my phone once at my destination). This definitely needs to have a "While Using" option, at this point it's almost better to stay with Apple's GPS, at least once I reach my destination and turn the app off, it kills off the Location need.

I go to settings in the Waze app (not the iPhone settings), and tap General.

But THERE IS NO CONTROL for "Location change reporting."

Google hates privacy. They ruined Waze, and I'm done with it. GPS "only while using the app" is a NECESSITY.

Disabling "location change reporting" in the Waze General settings worked for me! It looks like it tries to always use your location for calendar events to send you notifications.
