Country-Specific Speed Limit Sign with Symbol for Variable Limits
Country-Specific Speed Limit Sign with Symbol for Variable Limits
Problem
Waze’s static database cannot display real-time variable speed limits (VSLs) on roads like Israel’s Highway 20 (Ayalon), Switzerland’s A1, Germany’s A3, Austria’s A1, the UK’s M25, the USA’s I-95, Canada’s Highway 401, Australia’s M1, and India’s Delhi expressways. Fixed speed limits (e.g., 120 km/h or 60 km/h) can mislead drivers, risking speeding tickets or accidents, especially on long stretches without repeater signs. Showing no limit confuses users and suggests unedited segments. This issue frustrates Waze communities in the UK, USA, India, Canada, and beyond, demanding a smarter solution.Current Options
No limit: Safest option, avoiding misinformation, but frustrates users expecting guidance and implies segments weren’t edited. A better solution exists.
Maximum limit (e.g., 120 km/h): Risks speeding when actual limits are lower, endangering safety.
Average limit (e.g., 100 km/h): Unreliable due to VSL fluctuations, causing incorrect warnings.
Lowest limit (e.g., 60 km/h): Overly cautious, annoying users with unnecessary alerts.
Solution
Display a country-specific speed limit sign (e.g., Israel’s red circle, USA’s rectangle) in the same UI spot as numeric limits, but with a symbol (e.g., question mark "?", exclamation mark "!", or eye "👀") instead of a number, urging drivers to check roadside VSL signs. In the Waze Map Editor (WME), add a simple, country-specific symbol option for editors to tag VSL segments.Benefits
Safer Roads: Prevents reliance on wrong limits, reducing accidents and fines, aligning with Waze’s safety mission.
Clear Guidance: Familiar signs with a symbol ensure intuitive UI and proactive VSL alerts.
Trusted Map: Shows active editing, boosting confidence in Waze’s community-driven reliability.
Global Impact: Enhances user experience worldwide, from Tel Aviv to Toronto, strengthening Waze’s leadership.
Simple Innovation: Minimal UI/WME changes, echoing Waze’s Israeli-born crowd-sourced vision.
Example
On Israel’s Ayalon Highway or Switzerland’s A1, where limits vary (60–120 km/h), Waze shows a red circle with a "?" to prompt checking electronic signs, ensuring safety and confirming editor input.Call to Action

Speed bumps / humps
In Mexico, there are to many speed bumps and humps (Topes) but not traffic signs on the road and streets. This has provoked many accidents and damages to the cars, in some cases some deaths. Please let us know where there are with a warning. It's really urgent

Android Auto display on instrument cluster on VW Group cars
I've hit this issue and according to research it has been reported by other people using Waze Android Auto on VW Group cars.
In my case I have a Skoda Superb, and when using Waze Android Auto navigation, the instrument cluster will often(/always) show incorrect symbols for turns.
It seems to mostly go wrong for roundabouts, which the UK has many of. Roundabout direction icons will either incorrectly show as just a turn, or in the worst cases a right turn at a roundabout will show with a U-turn symbol.
This confusing display has been enough to stop me using Waze, I'm using Google Maps instead.

Move hazard button
The hazard button should be moved from right of display screen to left for CarPlay. Currently I have a wide display that requires me to lean just to reach it.
It also should be made a bit bigger as it’s hard to hit it with the leaning.

Please add stop lights.
Please add stop lights. They help when I'm not driving on the highway and especially when I'm driving in the city. I count how many stop lights I have so I know exactly where to turn and don't feel consistently lost.

Allow the ability to remove the Work category from the list
It would be great if there was the ability to either remove the Work category, or change the order of categories to put Work at the end so that places that are used more frequently can be moved to the front.
Many people are retired or work from home, so the Work category is just a nuisance to have there.3 votes -
Avoid low emissions zones button
An avoid low emissions zones button would be helpful for the drivers of pre 2016 non euro 6 diesel vehicles.
I intend to visit Edinburgh and Dundee in the summer both of which have low emissions zones. For me Birmingham and Bristol low emissions zones also need to be avoided.3 votes -

Live Navigation Sharing Between Multiple Vehicles in Group Travel
I would like to suggest a new feature for Waze that can assist during group travel, especially when there is no fixed destination or the destination is uncertain.
In situations where two or more vehicles are traveling together (e.g., in a convoy or guided trip), Waze should allow one car to act as a guide vehicle and share its real-time movement path with other vehicles following behind.
The Waze app should then navigate the following vehicles based on the exact route taken by the guide vehicle. For example, if the guide vehicle turns right at a junction, the following cars will also be directed to turn right, even if there's no specific end address entered.
If the guide vehicle gets more than, say, 2 km ahead, Waze should actively guide the trailing vehicles to catch up and follow the same path until they reconnect.
This would be especially useful for:
– Off-road adventures
– Road trips with multiple cars
– Military or official motorcades
– Guided group eventsSuch a feature would improve coordination and reduce the chances of getting lost during convoy travel.

When searching for a location - do not show straight line miles/"as the crow flies" miles as this is not useful.
This makes you think "ah, it's not too far" but when real driving miles are shown... it is sometimes double the miles! So straight line miles is useless

Bring Back These Three Icons
The classic Waze icon (with the U turn mouth) was adorable. I miss it. I would love to see it return as an app icon option in the iOS app.
Also, I miss the ability to set my Wazer icon as a Duck or Wembley from Fraggle Rock. I would love to se both of those return as options.
