highlight traffic jams
Better highlight of traffic jams on the map. AT the moment, it seems impossible to see an upcoming jam when Waze is following a route. The route track overlays the jam indication of the maps and the whole thing is not very visible. Make it clearer by making introducing stripes, checkerboards or whatever.

Voice Search shouldn't require so many taps to work.
The best driving apps are ones that you don't have to touch very often since that takes concentration away from the road. Waze lets you search via tapping the Microphone button but then still requires multiple taps to complete the request.
Current steps:
1) TAP magnifying glass
2) TAP microphone
3) Say name of place to go
4) Look at the screen to see the list of possible suggestions
5a) TAP the location you want if shown, or
5b) TAP the Search button for more results and then TAP the location you want
6) TAP the Go button
7) TAP the Go Now button (or wait for the timer to expire)As you can see, this requires between 4 and 6 Taps to start navigation
When I do a voice search, I almost always have the correct location as the first entry when I search with enough information (e.g. "Papa Johns North Avenue" instead of just "Papa Johns")
I'd like to suggest an enhancement (could be toggleable in options) that would remove some of the requires Taps and give Waze more automation..
I'd like to see it work as:
1) TAP magnifying glass
2) TAP microphone
3) Say name of place to go
4) Waze will search and automatically choose the first result as the location to go to
5) TAP the Go button (put a short timer on this step so I don't have to tap anything)
5a) I could tap Cancel/Back/whatever if it happened to find the wrong location and then I can use the normal steps up above
6) TAP the Go Now button (or wait for the timer to expire)This reduces the number of times I have to interact with the phone to just the initial two Taps to bring up the voice search box. After that, Waze goes by itself. This would allow users to pay more attention to the road quicker without having to keep telling Waze what to do.
Thanks

Set voice command language equal to Waze interface language
Currently, Waze expects voice commands in the language of the country that I am in. It disregards that the phone language. (English in my case, therefore, waze interface is also in English). I am, however, in Portugal. Therefore Waze voice commands are expected in Portuguese.
Consider the new implementation on no roaming fees in Europe. When I drive to Spain, I am expected to speak Spanish. When I go to Croatia, I am expected to speak Croatian.
Solve this by setting the voice language to the language of the phone (or waze). Otherwise Waze voice commands are useless.

Popup for Ads while Navigating
Great work! I am really digging the revamped UI. I like this app because it actually makes my commutes fun. Waze has access to very rich data, which gives me complete context-awareness.
One thing that I would like to point out is the way in which ads have been implemented. It greys out my entire navigation screen with the top half portion being taken up by the ad itself. Don't you think this is a little dangerous? For visual people like myself who likes to have full view of the map to lead my way, this is very disruptive and can cause disorientation while driving. I think there are more graceful ways of incorporating ads. For example, why not consider having a little pin on the map itself with a small icon gently luring us to the business. Something more like a "byyy the way - since you're in the area- can I kindly offer you some ice cold soda?" method rather than the "BOOM. In your face - here - buy some Cheetos throws Cheetos all over your windshield" method you currently have implemented.

travel planning option
I know I want to make a journey tomorrow. I have no idea how long it might take. Would love to be able to enter a start point and end point and get an idea of how long it would take if I was doing the journey now. Not exact or guaranteed for tomorrow, I know, but a good rough estimate.

FAVELAS NO RIO DE JANEIRO
Bom dia,
Obrigada

Recover connection after loss of signal
When I'm on the road and the cellphone loses signal, Waze goes off line and tries to reconnect. But when my cellphone gets signal again, Waze doesn't reconnect unless I close it and restart it or sometimes I even have to restart the phone! Then it gets network connection again, but I lose all the way I have traveled.
There should be an update that fixes this issue. Thank you!14 votes -

Add multiple widgets for different addresses
It would be great if I could add a widget for a specific address. Like the Google Maps Directions widget, it's a 1x1 widget that asks for an address and clicking that starts navigation to the specified location.

"Hazard on shoulder" menu should include "Road crew"
In Massachusetts, road/highway cleanup crews on are always accompanied by a state police or sheriff's van. I would like to report the location of a road crew without having to tag it as a "vehicle stopped on shoulder" or "police visible" because neither of these options is very accurate. Can a "road crew" option please be added to the "Hazard on shoulder" menu?

Is there a Family Locator function?
Is there a Family Locator function? Like if your family member is a waze user, and for privacy they'll let your phone see their location, and you can be guided to their location by the gps?

Please add sandstorm to weather report
Recently we have had several sandstorms that affected the drive greatly limiting visibility. I would like to be able to warn drivers or learn of sandstorms on my route.

New platform: Firefox OS
Firefox OS (formerly boot-to-Gecko) is a soon-to-be-released platform for low-end smartphones for emerging markets. It combines a stripped-down Android base (called Gonk) with Gecko (the Firefox render engine) and Gaia, a client layer written entirely in HTML5. The Mozilla Foundation is making some apps available for the commercial release, including HERE Maps, created by Nokia, but HERE is not a very good mapping solution, it lacks turn-by-turn navigation and the interface is overall a mess. Waze could really benefit from being the first turn-by-turn navigation solution to come to a platform and, in its turn, Firefox OS really needs a killer app like turn-by-turn navigation if it intends to thrive. The programming part should be relatively easy, since it only involves standards-compliant HTML.
So, these are my two cents. What do you think?
