Allow road closing for low rank editors
Allow lower rank editors (like me) to close roads from within WME. Since Waze doesn't want to allow low ranked editors to close roads (for good reasons), the solution would be to only show the closed roads for the editor and group. If others value my contribution, they can subscribe to my group and get additional road closure updates.
It might also be possible to close a road and have it marked unapproved, awaiting for a higher rank editor. But that unapproved closure would be active for the user and group within the App.
If the closed road gains enough confidence from other users, or verified by a higher rank, then a higher rank editor can approve the road closure, and be active for all Wazers.
And of course, the low rank editor should get points for trying to improve the commute for other wazers. For reporting a closed road, that should be MAJOR points since it has high impact.
And if that users earns confidence, there should be no reason to wait for a higher rank editor, or wait until that editor earns 25K points.
Why?
My commute experiences seasonal flooding. Within WME I can't close the road at my level, nor am I going to drive to a closed road just to report it. But I need Waze to avoid the road and route me, or if all roads/routes are closed, tell me I can't get to my destination.
The risk and potential abuse of low rank editors is a non-issue by my proposed solution above.
Great thinking! We’ll share with the team; they’re always interested in new feature ideas.

this! i had an encounter a few days ago in which an L1 editor was trying to close a road and couldn't. but they could delete the road, so that's what they did.

I would also suggest that if you are a Level 2 Editor, you can indicate Level 1 and Level 2 road closures without higher level approval. I am familiar with many time-of-day and seasonal road closures in my area that I could enter into Waze. But, I am not inclined to take the time to request these closures outside of using the editing interface.
It is 2024, any word after 6 years?

This could easily be done by setting up a review/approve process by higher level editors.
I have to often bug Level 4+ all the time about road closures yet, I know how to do road closures.

As a L5 editor, I can get behind this. Make it where it has to be approved by a L4+ editor to take effect.
On another note, in the US, if you go through the mentoring program, you can be promoted to L3/L4/L5 with less than the number of edits listed in the wiki.
