Add support for Passing Lane Alerts
Add functionality when on main single lane roads so the User can opt to display the distance to the next passing lane. The location and length of passing lanes would be added by editors and would give drivers an indication of how long until the next passing lane (and once in the lane, how long until it ends), potentially preventing drivers from taking unsafe risks and passing when not safe.
Passing lanes are used extensively in New Zealand and Australia, and I imagine are also used around the world.
Thanks for your feedback. At this time, this doesn't fit on our roadmap, but we'll keep it in mind for future product planning.

will vote this up. While Waze is primarily a commute/driving app, it is used for inter-city travel and on non-controlled 2-lane highways, its quite common to go 20-50 km without a "safe" passing lane.
While one "can" pass while the yellow-line is dashed (least in Canada) its stressful and dangerous. If the Waze app detects a slowdown for a set time, it could have a popup (like the speed limit reduction/high accident zone popup) that says Passing lane x km).

This is also a safety feature when people are driving 2 lane roads in areas they dont know.

Would be very helpful for driving on unfamiliar roads in Australia where passing lane may be 0.5km or 5.5km or less or more... You just don't know until you try passing that road train.

Indicating areas where passing is legal would be a great addition

Two lane roads, usually rural, have designated areas where it is legal to pass. It would be very helpful to have those identified as you approach so you know you will have an opportunity to pass as it approaches. Many times people tailgate until reaching one and this could prevent that activity and make it safer to pass in general.

Passing lanes - always a guessing game how long they are - the roads sign is there, and tell you that is coming ahead, but sometimes you have a very short one, meaning you won't be able to pass if you are three cars behind. Would be a good hint to all drivers, as slow down to let pass, or get ready to do a quick passing. - So once the road sign saying passing lane 1 mile ahead - you could tap on screen and see it's length too or set app to warn you if shorter tan 1500 feet as an example

Knowing when the next good passing opportunity is would help reduce driver frustration (maybe). Official passing lanes only though - not areas where anyone thinks you can pass.
