save lives: hijack hot spot and unsafe or damaged roads
DANGER HOT SPOTS
South Africa is riddled with crime and Waze can literally save hundreds of lives by allowing users to post hot sports at dangerous intersections. Simply being aware of a dangerous intersection will allow people to stop at that light with a safe escape distance. If the intersection gets safer somebody could post as not dangerous anymoreUNSAFE ROADS
Ive had numerous flat tyres from driving over a pothole. Imagine i could post a section of the road as damaged road. Id then be aware that i should be looking out for potholes. In the unlikely occasion that it ever gets fixed somebody could say not there anymore.DANGER ROADS
Waze recently took me past a very dangerous street at night. Would have been cool if i had an option to avoid it.I am absolutely certain that every person with a smart phone in south africa would use waze just for the safety benefits.
just ideas.
Loving waze!!! Keep up the good work

Everybody has seen a car on the side of the road but how many of those are actually affecting the flow of traffic? People post them to gain points but often times it is not useful information.

Enhance the "Prevent Auto-Lock" setting
Enhance the "Prevent Auto-Lock" setting, so that you can have one setting for when it is plugged in and charging and another setting when not charging.
This will allow for the option to let the phone to go into standby, if the phone is left on after turning the car off.

Semaphore optimization of speed, driving time and fuel economy.
To drive faster and keep fuel try to know the semaphore timing.
In this case can advise drive slower or faster (if possible) to drive non-stop in the semaphore green corridor, when possible.8 votes -
Avoid stop signs! Sometimes is faster the paraller road, because it has a few stops signs!!
I know that waze finds the fastest route, but sometime that street has a lot of Stop signs, and the parallel street doesnt have any, so is faster!! Maybe for a future you could add the stop signs to the maps!! For you to take note: In Costa Rica there isn't 4 stop ways or 3 stop way, in an intersection, here there is always a road who has the way, and the other has the stop sign. Srry for my english, isnt my native language!!

user provided layout themes
There are various requests for features of what Waze should/should not display on screen. It would be great if users could instead of just choosing a style, actually choose a (or create) a layout that another user has selected.
Best option would be to provide the ablity to give shapes, and areas that can contain text. Eg.
- Current speed (can then increase/decrease the speed display)
- Average wazer speed on the current segment (so the potential speed limits could be shown)
- Current road name
- Text/images for popups
- Destination ETA
- Destination time
- Destination name
- Destination distance
The more that is available, the more people can add there own display requests in.No need for a GUI, XML or some form of coding would be suitable.

Ask user on which street he is if GPS accuracy insufficient to determinate it automatically
Sometimes in the beginning of driving or if you driving differently from Wase suggestion Waze can lock on wrong street, if it is two close streets inside GPS accuracy region. I think it will be good if Wase will ask on which street you are exactly if it detects that GPS accuracy is insufficient to determinate it automatically.

Use acceleration sensors to improve navigation
I think it will be good idea to use acceleration sensors to improve navigation when GPS signal is weak. For example in tunnels. Also it may help in situation when GPS accuracy is insufficient. For example to better determination of position in roundabout.

mapless mode
how about a screen that just displays the speed and any nearby alerts (range user selectable) for when we're just driving and don't need the GPS? This could cut down on data (and battery) usage by not fetching maps, but still let us provide data back to the system.

Headup display on windshield for carplay/android auto
Reposting because it has not been implemented
Hello Waze Team,
This post is to strongly urge the prioritization of full integration with Apple CarPlay to enable turn-by-turn navigation on built-in Head-Up Displays (HUD) and digital instrument clusters.
This remains one of the most critical safety and convenience features missing from Waze, and it's a primary reason why many drivers reluctantly switch to Apple Maps when using CarPlay.
The Technical Framework Exists
We understand that enabling this feature is entirely possible within Apple's provided framework. The process is initiated by implementing the mapTemplateShouldProvideNavigationMetadata(_:) delegate method. By returning true from this function, Waze can signal to CarPlay that it is ready to supply the necessary navigation metadata for the car's native screens.
For your reference, the relevant documentation is here:
Demo: https://developer.apple.com/videos/play/wwdc2025/216/?time=900
PDF: https://developer.apple.com/download/files/CarPlay-Developer-Guide.pdf (page 52)
Documentation: https://developer.apple.com/documentation/carplay/cpmaptemplatedelegate/maptemplateshouldprovidenavigationmetadata(_:)Broad Vehicle Compatibility
This isn't a niche request. An extensive and growing list of vehicles from major manufacturers already support this feature for Apple Maps and would immediately benefit from a Waze update. Implementing this would instantly improve the Waze experience for drivers of:
Acura: Integra, MDX, RDX, TLX, ZDX

The "litmus test" is simple: if a car can show Apple Maps directions on its HUD or instrument cluster, it can show Waze directions, too—once you enable it.By implementing this feature, you would be delivering a massive quality-of-life and safety upgrade to a huge portion of your most loyal users. We are eagerly awaiting the day we can use our favorite navigation app with the full capability of our vehicles.

Add Multitouch Support for Waze on CarPlay (iOS 26)
Starting with iOS 26, Apple officially added multitouch support for CarPlay apps (confirmed on Apple’s developer website).
However, Waze still doesn’t support multitouch gestures such as pinch-to-zoom — which makes map navigation less intuitive and even unsafe while driving.Currently, zooming in or out requires multiple taps, forcing drivers to take their eyes off the road.
This is not only inconvenient but also reduces overall safety. It’s especially surprising because:
On Android Auto, Google Maps already supports multitouch, and it works great — smooth, natural, and safe.
Even in the Waze mobile app (without CarPlay), when the phone is mounted on the dashboard, you can easily zoom in and out with gestures. There are no + / – buttons, yet it feels perfectly intuitive.
So why does CarPlay Waze still miss this feature?
Why it matters:
Improves driver safety by minimizing distraction.
Makes Waze consistent with Google Maps and the Waze mobile app.
Takes advantage of Apple’s new CarPlay multitouch capabilities introduced with iOS 26.
Suggestion:
Please add multitouch gestures (pinch-to-zoom, pan, rotate) for Waze on CarPlay.
It’s already supported by iOS 26 and would make a huge improvement in safety, usability, and consistency across platforms. How many cars actually support multitouch?
Far more than most people realize — multitouch isn’t some brand-new feature.
It’s been standard in many cars for years, across almost all major manufacturers:Volkswagen Group (VW, Audi, Škoda, SEAT): since around 2014–2015
BMW: since 2015 (iDrive 5.0 and newer)
Mercedes-Benz: since 2016–2017 (NTG 5.5 and later)
Ford: since 2016 (Sync 3)
Toyota / Lexus: since 2018 (Entune 3.0 / Lexus Display Audio)
Hyundai / Kia / Genesis: since 2016–2017
Fiat / FCA / Stellantis brands (Fiat, Jeep, Alfa Romeo, etc.): since around 2016–2017 (Uconnect 4 and newer)
Renault / Nissan / Mitsubishi Alliance: since 2017–2018
Mazda: since 2018 (Mazda Connect Gen 2)
Volvo / Polestar: since 2016 (Sensus system with touch interface)
In short — millions of cars on the road today already have multitouch displays.

Hazard Alert - Animal on Road
Could there please be some sort of function within Waze that could give the user the opportunity to report deceased animals along the road so that the competent entities could come and collect them? Or even for pets that were just run down for a vet to come or something? Could it be connected to automatically give the competent entities the location of the animal? It’s a win-win for everyone and it keeps our road safe. Also, for objects on the road, while I’m not sure what entity would be responsible for removing them, somehow also connect to the responsible entity so that it could be promptly removed as well?

Please give the option to make the Speed Display and Speed Limit Boxes Larger. It is very hard to see due to small size. This would be very helpful in cars like mine that do not have a digital speed display.
