1. Prioritize Full CarPlay Integration: HUD & Instrument Cluster Directions

   Hello Waze Team,

   This post is to strongly urge the prioritization of full integration with Apple CarPlay to enable turn-by-turn navigation on built-in Head-Up Displays (HUD) and digital instrument clusters.

   This remains one of the most critical safety and convenience features missing from Waze, and it's a primary reason why many drivers reluctantly switch to Apple Maps when using CarPlay.

   The Technical Framework Exists

   We understand that enabling this feature is entirely possible within Apple's provided framework. The process is initiated by implementing the mapTemplateShouldProvideNavigationMetadata(_:) delegate method. By returning true from this function, Waze can signal to CarPlay that it is ready to supply the necessary navigation metadata for the car's native screens.

   Broad Vehicle Compatibility

   This isn't a niche request. An extensive and growing list of vehicles from major manufacturers already support this feature for Apple Maps and would immediately benefit from a Waze update. Implementing this would instantly improve the Waze experience for drivers of:

2. Apple Carplay HUD Integration Idrive 7

   I am writing to formally request the implementation of Head-Up Display (HUD) turn-by-turn navigation support for the Waze iOS app via Apple CarPlay.
   I currently drive a 2019 BMW 320d (G20) running iDrive 7. While Apple Maps seamlessly pushes navigation data, street names, and directional arrows directly to my windshield's HUD, Waze remains completely incompatible with this safety feature on iOS.
   I am aware that Apple's CarPlay framework has included the necessary APIs for secondary displays for quite some time, and I know that Waze via Android Auto already projects to the HUD on iDrive 7. Furthermore, while the recent version 5.4 update brought instrument cluster support to newer iDrive 8 vehicles, it entirely bypassed both HUD integration and widespread systems like iDrive 7.
   Having navigation prompts on the HUD is a critical safety feature that keeps drivers' eyes on the road. Currently, I am forced to run Apple Maps for the HUD visuals while keeping Waze running in the background for hazard alerts.
   Please escalate this to your iOS development and product management teams. The BMW community relies heavily on Waze, and closing this feature gap between Android Auto and Apple CarPlay would vastly improve the driving experience.

3. Carplay head up display directions

   I have a Mazda CX 30 and i have noticed that only Apple Maps can deliver HUD directions, i use only Waze but this does not have this option, is this a Waze issue or Carplay refuses to deliver HUD directions from Waze?

4. FIX the CarPlay map disappearing after driving for a few minutes

   First off, it's infuriating that PROBLEMS can't be reported on the Support page.
   The CarPlay map disappears after a few minutes of driving. All the control buttons remain, but the moving map is just a white field. This is a failure that makes Waze absolutely useless on CarPlay. This problem started with the latest iOS 5.19.1.0 version of Waze.

5. turn by turn notification on in-car instrument cluster display

   On my BMW 5 series (OS8.5) and CarPlay with iOS26, turn by turn notification/guidance that appears in instrument cluster is way too big, covering the route ahead which I need to drive. It is very difficult to see what is in front of me and in that case I need to look at the large display, which is not that safe especially when you need to turn. It would be much nicer to have this window moved underneath the car arrow instead of ETA window. ETA window in instrument cluster is not essential information and I could live without it, easily.

   A option in settings "Show guidance below car icon/arrow" will give users freedom of choice depending on their car display and implementation.

   Alternatively, move car arrow to the bottom edge of display if possible.

   Dear Waze Team,

   I am a dedicated Waze user and BMW driver, and I would like to raise a feature request that I believe would make Waze significantly better and safer to use in BMW vehicles: proper integration into the instrument cluster and head-up display.

   I currently use Waze in a BMW G42 M240i xDrive, model year 2021, equipped with iDrive 7, Apple CarPlay, and the latest iOS and Waze versions. While Waze works well on the central CarPlay display, navigation instructions are not shown in the digital instrument cluster or in the BMW head-up display. This means that important guidance, alerts, and turn-by-turn information remain limited to the center screen.

   For everyday driving, this is a noticeable limitation. BMW’s native navigation system already makes excellent use of the cockpit and HUD by displaying guidance directly in the driver’s field of view. This is not only more convenient, but also safer, because the driver can keep their eyes closer to the road instead of repeatedly looking over to the center display.

   From what I have seen, BMW vehicles with iDrive 8 have recently started to receive support for this kind of enhanced Waze integration. That is a very welcome development. However, many BMW drivers are still using iDrive 7, including owners of relatively modern vehicles such as the G42 2 Series. These cars are technically capable of showing navigation information in the cluster and HUD through BMW’s own navigation system, so it would be extremely valuable if Waze could support this functionality as well.

   I would therefore kindly ask Waze to consider extending full cockpit integration to BMW vehicles with iDrive 7. Ideally, this would include turn-by-turn directions, lane guidance, next manoeuvre information, speed-camera alerts, police warnings, hazard reports, and other relevant Waze notifications in the instrument cluster and, where supported, the head-up display.

   This would be a major improvement for BMW users who rely on Waze because of its excellent real-time traffic information, community alerts, police reports, and speed-camera warnings. At the moment, many drivers have to choose between Waze’s superior live data and BMW’s better cockpit integration. Bringing Waze into the cluster and HUD would remove that compromise and make Waze the obvious choice for many premium-car drivers.

   I would be very grateful if you could forward this request to the responsible product, automotive integration, CarPlay, or Android Auto team. It would also be helpful to know whether support for BMW iDrive 7 cluster and HUD integration is already being considered, tested, or planned for a future release or beta program.

   Thank you very much for your time and for continuously improving Waze. I genuinely hope this feature can be brought to iDrive 7 users as well, as it would make a meaningful difference to comfort, safety, and the overall driving experience.

7. Add Multitouch Support for Waze on CarPlay (iOS 26)

   Starting with iOS 26, Apple officially added multitouch support for CarPlay apps (confirmed on Apple’s developer website).
   However, Waze still doesn’t support multitouch gestures such as pinch-to-zoom — which makes map navigation less intuitive and even unsafe while driving.

   Currently, zooming in or out requires multiple taps, forcing drivers to take their eyes off the road.
   This is not only inconvenient but also reduces overall safety.

   It’s especially surprising because:

   On Android Auto, Google Maps already supports multitouch, and it works great — smooth, natural, and safe.

   Even in the Waze mobile app (without CarPlay), when the phone is mounted on the dashboard, you can easily zoom in and out with gestures. There are no + / – buttons, yet it feels perfectly intuitive.

   So why does CarPlay Waze still miss this feature?

   Why it matters:

   Improves driver safety by minimizing distraction.

   Makes Waze consistent with Google Maps and the Waze mobile app.

   Takes advantage of Apple’s new CarPlay multitouch capabilities introduced with iOS 26.

   Suggestion:

   Please add multitouch gestures (pinch-to-zoom, pan, rotate) for Waze on CarPlay.
   It’s already supported by iOS 26 and would make a huge improvement in safety, usability, and consistency across platforms.

   How many cars actually support multitouch?

   Far more than most people realize — multitouch isn’t some brand-new feature.
   It’s been standard in many cars for years, across almost all major manufacturers:

   Volkswagen Group (VW, Audi, Škoda, SEAT): since around 2014–2015

   BMW: since 2015 (iDrive 5.0 and newer)

   Mercedes-Benz: since 2016–2017 (NTG 5.5 and later)

   Ford: since 2016 (Sync 3)

   Toyota / Lexus: since 2018 (Entune 3.0 / Lexus Display Audio)

   Hyundai / Kia / Genesis: since 2016–2017

   Fiat / FCA / Stellantis brands (Fiat, Jeep, Alfa Romeo, etc.): since around 2016–2017 (Uconnect 4 and newer)

   Renault / Nissan / Mitsubishi Alliance: since 2017–2018

   Mazda: since 2018 (Mazda Connect Gen 2)

8. In dual screen mode show in main screen the whole route, not just mirror current view

   In dual screen mode (main screen and small screen above steering wheel) show on main screen the whole journey from current position to the destination (the same as Google Maps do). Right now main screen only mirror small view in a different scale.

11. HUD Interface

    I own LEXUS NX450 F-Sport and use WAZE through Car Play. The problem is that there is no interface between the WAZE and the Head-Up-Display. For example, Apple Maps has such an interface. I think this is a must feature you have to add.

    Add a short blurb to apple carplay navigation when an exit is being changed from what is expected, like due to accident, due to construction, due to congestion, due to time savings, etc… today I was on a trip and I knew the exit to get off of, but I also knew the exit was under construction Waze told me to get off one exit earlier, but with no reason as to why if I did not know that was under construction I probably would’ve bypassed what Waze was advising and then found out the hard way.

13. Speedometer on Apple Carplay - move it

    Current Speedometer has been reported as small.
    The new issue noticed, in CarPlay, it sits top right behind the CarPlay switcher bar, rendering it useless.

14. Carplay

    I would like to report an issue with Waze on Apple CarPlay.

    Issue description:
    For approximately the last few weeks (around May 2026), Waze started experiencing a reproducible problem on my motorcycle CarPlay display (Interphone RideSync 70).

    While navigating, if I open the Alternative Routes screen and then return to navigation, the map disappears. Navigation guidance continues to work, but the map view is no longer displayed correctly.

    Steps to reproduce:

    1. Start navigation in Waze using Apple CarPlay.
    2. Open the “Alternative Routes” menu.
    3. Select a route or return to the main navigation screen.
    4. The map disappears and does not return.

    Environment:

    • iPhone with iOS 26.x
    • Apple CarPlay
    • Interphone RideSync 70 motorcycle display
    • Latest available Waze version

    After upgrading the iPhone to iOS 27 Beta, the issue appears to be resolved. I tested multiple route changes during navigation and the map returned correctly every time. The problem has not reoccurred so far.

    This may indicate a compatibility issue between Waze and iOS 26.x that has been addressed in iOS 27.

    I would like to report an issue with Waze on Apple CarPlay.

    Issue description:
    For approximately the last few weeks (around May 2026), Waze started experiencing a reproducible problem on my motorcycle CarPlay display (Interphone RideSync 70).

    While navigating, if I open the Alternative Routes screen and then return to navigation, the map disappears. Navigation guidance continues to work, but the map view is no longer displayed correctly.

    Steps to reproduce:

    1. Start navigation in Waze using Apple CarPlay.
    2. Open the “Alternative Routes” menu.
    3. Select a route or return to the main navigation screen.
    4. The map disappears and does not return.

    The arrow on the map works horizontal all other maps the arrow faces vertical which is the way the car is travelling. Please allow to rotate the map so you can turn the map to suit your direction

16. Head up display

    Dear Waze Team,

    Please add Head-Up Display (HUD) support for Waze navigation in Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

    Many modern vehicles, including the new Toyota RAV4 2026, are equipped with advanced HUD systems that can display navigation instructions directly on the windshield. It would be extremely useful and safer if Waze could show upcoming turns, lane guidance, distance to the next maneuver, and other navigation information on the HUD.

    Waze is my preferred navigation app, and HUD integration would greatly improve the driving experience and help drivers keep their eyes on the road.

17. Blank map in Apple CarPlay. Software Fix or Refresh Button

    Bug: Blank map in Apple CarPlay.

    Need a Software Fix or add a Refresh Button to reload the map view/data as a workaround

    Based on internet search the issue appears to be plaguing Waze worldwide. Alternates like Apple and Google maps do not suffer from this issue.

18. CarPlay button feedback

    Can’t tell if I hit the right selection. Still there, not there etc. I feel like there used to be a checkmark or some kinda of visual feedback to show you what you clicked when confirming a traffic or incident report. Now it just disappears
