Dangerous areas in Brazil
Unfortunately we have some problems about some dangerous areas... Another person got killed because of a bad route... http://g1.globo.com/rio-de-janeiro/noticia/2015/10/relembre-ataques-de-bandidos-do-rj-motoristas-e-passageiros-perdidos.html
I think waze could have an option to avoid these unsafe areas...

Great news! The feature to avoid high risk areas in Israel and Brazil is now available in Waze. Install the latest app version to check it out.

In Colombia (Bogota), add the avoid dangerous zones feature (As last week a driver was killed by following Waze
route through a dangerous neighborhood: https://www.pulzo.com/nacion/razon-por-funcionario-banco-republica-llego-donde-mataron-PP537877) -

This feature is absolutely necessary in Brazil. People have already been killed driving in hazordous areas. A MUST HAVE feature in waze these days.

This is incredibly necessary. Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, for example have areas that are not navigable. Routing drivers through them could be problematic. On the past month I avoided a hazardous zone by reviewing the route. Making an option to "avoid counting through hazardous zones" would be great!.

Im totally agree with ale, in my case I just got robbed because I follow waze through the best route to avoid trafic. It would be excellent that Users can select the street and rate/block it so when that route/street receives a minimum numbers of votes, Waze block it.
If someone want to go there just give them the advaice and let them decide as you aready do with the passanger/pilot message.

True. Garmin has this function. It can be left to the user to add them to avoid intolerance and stay politically correct.

That has happen also to me, I live in Colombia an there are some streets or areas that are too dangerous to drive in, you can get robbed or something worst, and of course sometimes I have to drive alone and I'm a woman so it's even worst :(

I AM DOING SOME RESEARCH REGARDING CRIME AND RISK IN AREAS OF THE CITY OF RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL AND SAW THAT YOUR SYSTEM HAS NOW A FEATURE THAT ALERTS FOR SUCH AREAS AND EVEN ALLOWS USERS TO AVOID ROUTES THAT GO INTO SUCH AREAS. WAS WONDERING HOW THESE MAPPING WAS DONE AND IF YOU CAN SHARE THE MAP WITH REGIONS IN THE CITY THAT FALLS INTO SUCH CATEGORY FOR MY RESEARCH. THANK YOU FOR YOUR ASSISTANCE

Much like how wazers can report things like heavy traffic or an accident, wazers should be able to rank certain neighborhoods by a star rating and you should be able to choose along with your route if you want to avoid certain areas that might be considered dangerous

I live in Johannesburg, South Africa . The highest high jacking rate in the country!
Please allow map editors to highlight dangerous roads/high crime areas so that users can select an option to avoid these areas. Or Base these areas on crime statistics.
I am new to this city so I don't have the Knowledge to select alt routes on my own.

I live in a nice area, but there is some really bad areas surrounding me (Paterson, NJ). Many times, Waze will send me through these bad areas because the route is faster due to traffic. I'd much rather sit in traffic than drive through the ghetto and get shot at!
I don't know names of roads in these bad areas so by the time I realize the gps is taking me there, its too late and im stuck driving through sketchy, dangerous parts of town. -

Slam dunk no brainer ! Put's the pressure on the identified area , local police and government to step up and launch effective crime prevention. Great idea. Thanks. JJM

I am grateful for your free app.
I have an idea to enhance the maps: people should be able to mark streets as a dangerous place to drive. We should be able to turn down a switch in order to avoid high risk routes.
Just take it into consideration please.Kind regards,
Jorge Luis

Look for "Dangerous places" in the search box to your right.... at this moment there are about 440 of those ideas, where the maximum points for 1 is 12... maybe better to vote for the highest and get some traction going.

Hi. You know Brazil has various dangerous places that should be avoided while driving, such as the "favelas". It would be great to have a way to mark those places to be avoided in the Waze system.

It would be of great social value to have the option to add a layer to google maps that show crime data. First, realtors are not allowed to divulge crime information when I'm looking for a house when relocating.
Secondly from a driving perspective, it'd be important to have an option to avoid high crime areas, or at least know when you're driving into one.
Groups like Crime Mappers have already defined the data and the methods, so one similar to there idea might work.
Do you agree?
We posted an article to review the discussion and history as well....

definitely, we could have 2 options.
- Avoid Dangerous areas (this is the same of avoid toll scenario)
- Flag as dangerous place temporarily - this is the same scenario when you flag speed camera or even weather conditions.this will might not be useful for the rest of the world, but definitely for country as Brazil or any that has the same issues. Please consider implementing it ASAP

Many streets are not transited as they are considered dangerous at certain times of day in Mexico; however, for this same reason, waze traces routes through them as traffic is very low. Risk ponderations by users would help the user make an informed decision and avoid robberies.
