Differentiate "dirt road" of "4x4 trail".
"Dirt road / 4x4 trail" should be called "4x4 trail" only, and keep the same navigation capabilities as now, only to be allocated as such the badly damaged roads that only 4x4 vehicles are able to travel it.
In the "street category" should be added a new type of segment called "dirt road", which would be passable streets for any vehicle but their ability to circulate them may vary due to various external factors such as weather. Because of this, they should suffer some level of penalty in the routing, and allows the "avoid dirt roads" in the application for the wazer (this option should generate routes with the least amount of "dirt roads" when there were no other navigation option when is set a target in a "dirt road" segment).
"Dirt road / 4x4 trail" as it is now is causing problems of interpretation in editors and users in many countries.

Could include Green lanes ( In the UK, Think they are what your calling dirt roads) and Gated roads. Gated roads are usually in rural areas and sometimes locked, sometimes you can arrange to travel them (info on signs to contact would be good to display on waze) then there are some that are open and closed at regular times. Would be good for waze to note these times too!

On my last trip, rental cars were told not to go on two five mile stretches, but the best route had us go on these stretchs on the first two routes. I would like something to optionally block all dirt roads to avoid these issues. I have run into the "no dirt road" with rental cars in the past so I do not believe my last trip is unique. Also in some cases people may no want to use dirt roads in general because of the cars that they are driving.

I completely agree.
I had a very bad and stressful experience with this, when Waze trace a route for a 4x4 road and beside that, the road is so thin that was impossible to turn the car to come back.
Later I had to enter in Waze editor to change this road in order to allow only motorcycle use this road, keeping others users safe.
That is a danger and huge mistake from Waze. -

I've been asking for this for over 2 years now. There needs to be an unpaved road feature vs an "off road vehicle" road. Some people don't like driving down dirt/gravel roads unless they absolutely have to, but at the same time, you've got other mapped roads that aren't suitable for all vehicle traffic (ie., Forest Service Roads)

Couldn't we distinguish between a proper 4x4 road or a soil road which can be used by a regular car? If we only have to distinguish between 4x4 road and "street", then we could be erroneusly categorizing roads which are fair enough to go through for a common car into an "undrivable road" just because of setting them as "4x4" roads... what do you think about it?
