ambulance
What if the ambulance drivers was using Waze as well and I got a message or a siren on my waze as the ambulance approached the location where I was. I would know that there was an ambulance coming on my way and i could pull over in order to let it pass through.
I have no idea about Waze database, but I am sure it is not small. I believe it could be very helpfull to all parties: ambulance would reach hospital fasters; patients would not have the risk to be in traffice and get treatment faster; driver would no feel guilty for not letting the ambulance pass though; and the hospital doctor would be able to provide a faster response to the patient.
Great thinking! We’ll share with the team; they’re always interested in new feature ideas.

Enable public safety to use WAZE on their Mobile Computer (MDC) for mapping and also link it to the siren control box (unitrol) so that when responding (Police, Fire, Ambulance) with lights and sirens active they automatically show up on every Wazer's map so they know we are coming and can move to the right.

would be good, but how you would force your country/city to invest money to implement this technology (internet, android device with GPS) into all the ambulance vehicles. I assume it would not be that cheap. It would need Waze to partner with ambulance providers and work with custom data many modern ambulance operators already have about ambulance car locations. Maybe in paid version many years into future?

How waze would recognise ambulance car? also majority of the drivers do not use waze, it may not be that helpfull

A way to alert the police/ambulance if a major accident happened. They can get to the scene sooner to help people in need if they can get going before someone officially calls it in. Plus, often calls to 911 on cell phones go to faraway phone centers and that means large delays for getting ambulances to accident scenes.

I was thinking that if Ambulances and Fire trucks or Police cars in an emergency set up their route with waze, other users in will know when the ambulance will pass and let them through. This could save lives making this time-critic routes more efficient.

Lots of possibilities for abuse ... "hey look, I'm an ambulance"

An ambulance / police just got an emergency call and activated it's sirens. It would be very helpful, both for drivers and the emergency vehicles as well if they would appear on the map, with visual and audio warning, so we [drivers] would know to be aware and clear the lane / road/.

Waze may be missing an opportunity to help save lives. I believe it would be useful to have as party of the app an emergency vehicle program which would allow travelers to be notified of any Fire Truck, Ambulance or other emergency vehicles within a certain radius by defining EV’s direction of travel and Waze could encourage drivers to pull to the right. It would be a hug benefit to know what is coming up on you from behind and what my be just up the road

If this will be added to the reporting, waze might become the communications between responders and the public. This will help.
