Improve "forgot username or password" process
I upgraded to a new phone. Forgot my username & password but the entire existing process is circular. Put in my phone number (didn't receive a text w/in 24 hours). Put in my email address (didn't receive an email w/in 24 hours). I charged & started my old phone to get my username. Once I retrieved it and put it into the new phone I received a verification code via text. I used that code and then added my full name - and I was given a new user name which I did not choose. When I put in my original username an alert came up saying that it was already in use! WTH REALLY??? After all that I open the app and see all of my original information, my home is set, my friends are still there, my recent locations, favorites etc. Sooo it begs the question - if I put in my original username, why couldn't I just reset my password rather than have to also reset my username? Can I please have my username back?
Also - getting help on the webpage about all of this is a royal pain.
My suggestion: please revisit the username / password recovery process so that if you remember your username, you only have to put in an email address to reset the password (regardless if the email address is 'registered' or not.
Not everyone wants to have all their apps connected (Google, FB, WAZE, email etc)

I just recovered my username from a very old Waze password reset email. The current password reset email did not provide username/nickname, only full name which is not username. The old password reset email did include it.

Exact same issue. New phone, no waze settings and auto login disabled...Can't believe you can have waze setup with favorites and all your settings without a way to get it back. Thought I knew my username but never got the reset password email so I must not have set it up with an email. How crazy is that they don't require one.

exact same problem here, lost everything because the app doesn't force me to provide email address or phone number.
I can't create new acc with phone number either because it says my information is lost in the stratosphere somewhere.....
The support doesn't respond to my emails... Great app but awful support and login process... -

OMG so so so frustrating! Infuriating! Had to get a new phone and although Waze should have backed up in iCloud, it won’t log in! Like everyone else on this thread, I want my history, saved addresses, points in my account!!!! WHY in the world can’t they fix this???? It’s freaking 2018!

I have the same exact problem, I was royalty, and like st everything haven’t been able to recover anything, can’t log in, nothing works lost my status, you guys don’t make things easy at all.

I also had the same problem. WAZE MUST make it mandatory that during sign up, you need to add either a cell phone number and/or an email account. My problem is that I wasn't sure of the password. I DID NOT want to lose my history; nor did I want to lose my Ranking or my crown, etc... ! So, this is what I did which worked. You at first would have to know your login. AND it won't work for everyone unless you've made a previous backup of your phone.
Step 1, Make a backup of your iPhone now !!!!
Step 2, do a restore of a previous backup at a time when your iPhone automatically logged into the Waze App.
Step 3, after the restore, go into Waze and change the password ! Then go to a computer to Waze.com and test your login code and password.
Step 4, Within the Waze App, go to settings and add your cell phone number and an email account. You'll be glad you did !
Step 5, Do a restore again of the most recent backup in Step 1.
Step 6, Go to the Waze up and use the password that you changed it to. Done !

I have had the same problem. Now, after so many attempts the support staff replied with yet another generic reply that they want to protect my privacy. I know I linked my email address because the first time I attempted to get my password by phone number I got a reply that said this email addr4ess is linked to this account: (my user name) and it asks "Is this YOU?? I reply yes and it says Great just use your password!! THAT IS THE PROBLEM, I CAN'T REMEMBER MY PASSWORD!!! I want to RESET my password!! This isn't a bank, it's a map app. I don't see how the support team is "compromising my privacy" by doing what most other accounts on line do: They DISABLE YOUR PASSWORD and then send a generic password to the same email address, that already recognizes my user name, and I lot in with that! After I get into my account I can change my password!! I know I registered and used the email address they have on file beause it is the ONLY email account that goes to my phone, SPECIFICALLY because of Waze. I get no other email sent to my phone at all. I'm really frustrated. It aggravates me to lose all my stored destinations and all of my points. So many apps have passwords and I have not encountered a single one that is this hard to just get a password reset.

I purchased a new phone, dummy me uninstalled from my old phone before I was able to save my information for my new phone, unable to log in. put in my phone number, it does recognize me but my information is lost in the stratosphere somewhere... REALLY!!!!
So I am not able to log on, this is the 2nd time with a new phone and I refuse to make a new acct. I have points and things saved to my acct that I can't retrieve!!! BEYOND UPSET!!!!!!!!!!! -

I don't understand that we can get password or reset it through an SMS... When I created my account we link a mobile phone# to the account.... Current Waze access to the account is way too rigid than my banking, hotel or e-mail account I have somewhere else.

I'm having the same issue. I have no idea what my username is/was and I now have a completely new blank account with the same email address and phone number I always use. How can I get my original account back?????

I have verbatim the same problem. I want to keep my old user name, but after updating the app I can't log in, can't reset password, phone verifies but I am forced to choose a new user name, old one shows as taken.

At very first sign up, I'm unable to create a "username".
Continually rejects with a message numbers and letters or something close. Won't take any username I attempt.

I got a new phone and downloaded waze and forgot my username. Ive sent a password reset email to my only email address multiple times and still cant recover my password so now i lost important addresses and i have no one to contact because no one from Waze will email me back

PLEASE allow me to receive my existing password (or a link to a 'change password' process that actually works) via my phone number. The system keeps saying that it sees that there is a linked account but then it says 'Ooops!' and I get dumped into the inexorable circle of lost password death. Even the 'forgot password' screen on the Android App itself, is just a blank screen entitled 'Forgot Password'. Really? C'mon guys. Just let us reclaim our account info via our phone number. This is not exactly banking info so it does not need to be locked down like Fort Knox.
