Movable speedometer
Hold your finger on the speed gauge to move the speed gauge to a suitable location on your screen.
This would be very useful especially on a tablet or phones with big screens.
Hey,
Please note we're changing the status of this suggestion to Not right now, since we finalized our plans for 2024 and this idea won't be implemented this year.
We hope to include it in our plans for later down the line.
Thanks!

Before I go ahead and suggest improvements, Waze is a great navigation app with excellent features. I love it! Great work, Waze team; keep it up!! 👏
I suggest introducing a feature where Waze app users can configure the location of the speedometer and speed limit information through the Waze app preferences to be positioned in one of four display corners. I have noticed reports of inconsistent placement across different platforms; some Waze apps display this information on the left, while others display it on the right. To set the context, the suggestion is based on using the Waze iOS app version 4.92, where the speedometer and speed information are in a fixed position in the lower left corner (when in landscape mode/when the mobile phone is tilted horizontally).
Before proceeding, we must always rely on the car's speedometer and the actual road signs! This suggestion is to improve the current in-app experience for Waze users who find that the speedometer and speed limit information are farther away from the steering wheel.
The lack of regulations in this field introduces an overlooked driving hazard. When the speedometer and speed limit information are located in a fixed position further away from the steering wheel, it introduces a driving hazard as the driver has to spend more time navigating the information on the Waze app navigation screen. I am confident that this is an overlooked feature because most Waze users are drivers in countries that drive on the right side of the road; thus, the steering wheel is located on the left side, which is closer to the speedometer on the Waze app navigation screen.
The problem arises when the speedometer and speed limit information are displayed on the left side of the Waze app navigation screen, while the steering wheel is located on the right side. This placement of the speedometer and speed limit information forces the driver to spend more time navigating the information. I would expect more complaints if the speedometer and speed limit information were moved to the bottom right corner and could not be changed. Please, Waze team, let us make driving safer by introducing this overlooked yet crucial feature to improve the Waze navigation app experience. Thank you!

This one truly baffles me: Waze doesn't see this as a driving hazard!?!? There must be stricter regulations around these navigation apps and devices. It should be banned if the app fails to provide a safe driving experience. Unfortunately, these feature requests aren't getting enough traction/votes because most of your user base is in countries that drive on the right side, and you are entirely overlooking your user base in countries that drive on the left, like the UK. Please don't be this company that overlooks whole countries just because of the majority of your users. The lack of ability to move the speedometer from one corner to another is a driving hazard; period, the speedometer must be closer to the steering wheel. It would be interesting to see how many crashes the lack of this feature has caused over the years. I did see some threads asking for this feature 9 years ago. This is just insane. We must do something about this. Imagine car manufacturers putting a speedometer on the passenger's side.

Yes, it is critical to have it! I have a very wide screen on my car.
I wish I could manually position the speedometer on the left side of the screen.
Please add it Waze devs.Thank you.

Foremost, make it bigger on display. Then, consider a top corner location on the map vs. bottom.

Would be helpful to be able to reposition the spedometer

I use the phone on landscape mode while driving and while navigation, the speedometer gets hidden when the lane indication box expands. There should be an option to keep the speedometer on the top of navigation screen. Alternatively an option to customisé speedometer location would also be great.

Yes, please. my built in holder in the car hides the location of the speedometer. And the icon of musicplayer is in a much better space. It would be nice if those icons could be switched. (iPhone-user)

I've been looking everywhere on how to do the same thing. I was hoping that users made customized skins with different layouts (similar to Winamp or other mp3 players) would be available.
I would think with the steering wheel on the left side in US and Canada, that most would mount their phone on the right or upper right side of the steering wheel. So others would have a similar problem with them having either the steering wheel or their hand coming in the way to see the speed. I personally want the speed indicator on the lower right where it's clear to see but your idea of being able to move it anywhere, would be good (similar to a floating window).

Customizing the button locations NEEDS TO BE ADDED. I use my phone horizontally (landscape mode) and the app puts the "PIN" button over top of the "COMPASS" button so that if I tap the "PIN" (to report a hazard, cop, pothole, etc.), the screen rotates back and forth between "follow me" view and "north up". By the time I find the exact spot that allows me to report the hazard, I'm too far past it to be of any help.
