display only live-info and events relevant to the current route
Add option, that would:
- enforce event pop-ups (such as accidents, etc.) to show only if they happen on the current route to destination (no need to se events in radius when not on the route)
- display only number of events (under the icon with the red excl. mark) relevant to the current route to destination (this would help user open the live info only when there is a number indicating something going on on the route

Also increase the colour contrast of the direction-indicating animated stripes on roads with slow traffic. It can be hard to see which direction the stripes are moving in because the colour is subtle.

Depending on the incident and delay. It could be good to see what is around you, or you may choose to divert and be worse off.

Please. About to leave waze for Google maps.

Please add this! I'm a reverse commuter and seeing information on the other side makes Waze much less useful.

Most updates an Hour OLD :
Waze shows reports which is 1 hour OLD, it is useless - the conditions would have either improved or deteriorated further from that point. -

Mine is set to on route only

I can see value in route specific notifications. This shows as planned Aug 30, 2012. My concern is that if a problem develops ON my route or if I suddenly decide to change routes but can't safely update Waze in advance (Oops I didn't realize I was that close to empty and I'm heading into an area with few gas stations or I just got a call and need to go elsewhere prior to continuing to my original destination) I would have exactly 0% Visibility into the conditions on the road that suddenly looks attractive because I don't know that half a mile down it there's a problem and the next road would actually be better.
Regardless, it's in Planned now so let's see how this works in real life. Apparently I've posted into a group who doesn't have unexpected things occur almost every week several times. Must be nice. Maybe when I grow up my life will be that stable too.

Great if you could configure quick icon to show events on route without having to go through menus while driving

I have mine set up to only show events in a 5 mile radius. But I get popups ALL THE TIME outside of the 5 mile radius! What is the point of specifying a radius if it ignores the setting? I am in Southern California so we have tons of Wazers and popups. What do I care if there is heavy traffic on a freeway 10 miles away when it's nowhere near my route?

Can see why many only want popups/status count on their route, especially in lager towns - but maybe consider this tweak:
If navigating only show popups on designated route
If NOT navigating show popups according to Events Radius - so as to allow one to check status before deciding on route/departure time.In addition to the Events Radius have an extra setting to allow event from own/specified country/state only.
In Europe f.ex, I DO want a 18 mile radius because of my commute - but I DO NOT want to see reports from the next door country. Despite beeing separated by a (small) sea, they are closer than my destination in my own country, so I get svamped with reports that are 100% waste of attention and thus the relevant reports get buried

Good feedback, Definitely would like this feature. And adhere to user setting like Event Radius = 5mi as example to filter out pop-ups from 10, 11, even 12 miles away!

Events in direction of travel should be different color or easily distinguishable to ones on the other side of the road

Added comment to this excellent suggestion that the option to see event pop-ups when stopped should be just that... an option. It can be helpful at times, but it can also get in the way when popping up at stops. The pop-ups should have selectable options such as when, what and where the popups refer to in exactly the way SETTINGS>ADVANCED>SHOW ON MAP is set up. And as mentioned, the ability to enable/disable at will.

It's a top idea and must be combinated in two settings :
1- Set or not popups for a radius event when you have no destination
2- Activate or not popus for events on your roadAnd still show events when you are stopped for a radius event. (no popup like now)
Maybe let the ability to have popup for starred group or all groups.Hope to see this idea have a planned flag !!!!
