Tracking stop signs and stop lights
In addition to "Difficult intersection" it would be very handy for two features:
1) Waze's map to record if there are stop signs (2, 4 way), and lights at an intersection. This would (hopefully) include separate turn signals; some intersections are VERY difficult to turn left at even with a light, for example.
2) A setting for navigation (in the app) for "Avoid unguarded turns/intersections". This would then allow a driver to NOT have to turn left across 6 lanes of traffic, for example, as the app would know there was no light at that crossing (or even going directly across).
3) In addition, a mode for "During rush hour" would be handy for both this and the 'avoid difficult intersections'. Such turns are fine at 1:00am, impossible at 5:00pm.
Now, this sounds like it may present a lot more options, thus confusing some drivers, but if you've ever had the joy of dozens of street turns during rush hour in LA or other severely congested area, you could see it would become life-preserving.
Thanks for your feedback. At this time, this doesn't fit on our roadmap, but we'll keep it in mind for future product planning.

I like the timing part.
However, I dont like the part, where you would like to slow down based on the lights timing.
This is especially annoying for those following. And also that will contribute to a back up and caused the entire lane, to slow down, because one Waze user is timing and try to make the signal at Green. How about all those following, trying to make it or get closer to a traffic light. Thus increasing chances to cross that particular light. -

I like this idea. Most intersections take longer to clear. Some traffic lights are time much longer. Such instances will cause delays in the route.
Waze update the time but, doesn't reroute or plan the route in advance to avoid such LONG and TIME Consuming Traffic Lights. -

Waze is amazing but i feel needs more notifications ie LOW BRIDGE,,traffic light warnings, also motorway lane assistance ie when entering or leaving a motorway it could tell you what lane to aproach in. also the speed omiter could do with being a bit larger and needs more central ising on the application its too small. I hop ethia helps !!

Insert a fourth Stop and Go traffic jam indicator between HEAVY and STANDSTILL. Current display shows 2 dark orange autos for MODERATE, 3 dark orange to light orange autos for HEAVY, and 3 red then dark orange to light orange autos for STANDSTILL. Being able to select a Stop and Go traffic jam between HEAVY and STANDSTILL could be displayed as a "Red" then "YELLOW" then "dark orange" to indicate traffic is inconsistently switching between STANDSTILL and the other traffic jams.

Regarding the first comment - if the traffic lights work by sensors, it is still possible to calculate a time estimate, since the lights do have boundaries within which they must operate. Also, in the ideal situation of perfect information (I,e, Waze reporting from every car) it is possible to model and predict the traffic lights behavior. While the reality is not ideal, I believe there are enough Wazers for achieving this.

I will keep my Waze constantly on if you would calculate and show the speed I should go to catch my next green light, and also the time to the next red / green.

Good day,
I would like to recommend the following features for future upgrade:
A) the GPS calculates the number of traffic lights the user would encounter along the route.
B) let the user have the option to self determine the time traffic light and traffic incident would costs him. This would greatly helps in calculating the fastest time. For example, routing using shortest distance is usually right. But due to the encounter of traffic lights and incidents along the route. The shortest distance is not the fastest time. All of us know this fact.
But many times, the fastest time is not the fastest time as the traffic lights encounter along the way are numerous but the GPS only estimate the small road vs expressway instead of individual traffic lights. Each traffic light encounter would costs 30 sec to a minute. Some route have 10 traffic lights vs 3 for another route but both are small road thus the GPS doesn't estimate correctly. And this is frequently the cause of frustrations of many drivers.
All the brands of GPS have this issue of calculating the fastest route cos none of them determine number of traffic lights along the route. They only estimate longer time for small route vs expressway. The reason may be that this issue is not important for big countries like Malaysia. But it is extremely important for cities like Singapore where traffic lights are numerous.
The 4 main factors of traffic speed to determine ETA are:
1) Distance
2) Speed limit along the route (Expressway vs Small road)
3) Number of traffic lights along the way
4) Traffic incidents along the way.Traditional GPS calculate 1) Distance and 2) Speed limit. Recent high tech GPS includes 4) Traffic incidents. But so far, none look at 3) Number of traffic lights which is as important as 4) Traffic incidents and should be easier to include as it is fixed on the map. But on top of that 3) & 4) should have a time option to be set by users themselves as each individual have different tolerance for traffic lights and traffic incidents.
If the above I've mention is included in the feature, I'm very sure your GPS will stand head and shoulders above the rest as it routing technology would be top notch.

Is it possible to include the traffic light waiting time in order to calculate the route?

How about a traffic status indicator for traffic light congestion? (He asked, sitting in line for the fourth light cycle, w three more cycles to go)

Add a traffic light symbols on the maps

This would not be easy as many traffic lights (in my country) operates with a inductive sensor at non-peak hours. Meaning, there is no fixed time for traffic lights.

This should take in consideration the existing "red light camera", which currently is worthless (would popup on the screen but doesn't announce if we cross it at a faster speed than defined on the speed camera). What I mean is that besides giving negative weight for each intersection, it could also give negative weight to each redlight camera on the route.

This would also help with planning a route. It may be worthwhile to take a longer route with less stops.

Today I sat at a traffic light that usually takes a long time to go through. Even got a prompt to find out whether there was a traffic jam. This light increased the eta by 4 minutes of a 22 min route!
If waze could take into account the time at intersections, it could plan better routes and give better ETAs.

I think it would be a great benefit if you can us the data of every time a waze stops at a Traffic Light you should be able to figure out the timing for all the Traffic lights. Then some how be able to tell us when the next light is going to change so we can adjust are speed of course slowing down to time the lights and save fuel.
