Variable Speed Limit Sign Integration
Here in Northeast Ohio in our construction zones we have "Variable Speed Limit" signs. They are used to reduce the speed limit on a streth of road only when the work zone is active. Example stretches are the Interstate 271/480 stretch in Bedford and again on Interstate 480 in Parma. The 271/480 signs will be in use til 2021 according to the construction plan.
There are several solutions:
1) When entering reported construction zone there could be a pop up presented asking for current speed with known work zone MPH listed (see below)
2) After pressing the speedometer/speed limit a Wazer could select variable work zone limit in effect
3) When marking a construction zone on the editor or within the app there could be an additional selection box for reporting if variable speed limits are in use.
One 271/480 the posted speed limit is 60 MPH, the variable speed signs are used as follows:
50 MPH - Active work zone on your side
55 MPH - Active work zone on other side
60 MPH - No active work zone

Some DOTs place repeated reports listed as "construction" or the like in a variable speed zone, with the comment under the report listing the speed limit. I'm wondering if segment ID could be integrated with the ITS systems to automatically apply the speed limit to the appropriate segment, similar to tunnel beacons.

Many Department Of Transportation will be interested to this idea. I'm sure it could also be beneficial to all WZDx collaborator. We are not only talking about saving time here, we talk about saving lifes. Speed reductions in work zone area are critical informations.

Variable speed limit signs (permanent and temporary) have been common in Europe for some years, so +1 this idea
