Waze already does this when using the marked car spot, doesn't it?

There is little upside to waze turning themselves off. They lose valuable data for tracking, better for them to drain the battery.

How is this not a thing?

To reiterate on another’s comments it would be great if Waze would stop routing once the phone is unpaired from the car.

Love the idea, much needed

This is my biggest issue, and battery problem, leaving Waze on when I get out of my car. An option to either auto-off when unplugged, or arrived at my destination would be perfect.

A popup at that point would be consistent with the style of anticipating the daily commute, i'm surprised it can't understand that it's home, in the garage, not moving, and wearing out battery.

It would also be nice at the mall, when I forget to take it off the dash, that it shuts itself off, and lets the screen go dark, not announcing to the world throught its brightness that there's an unattended iphone there.

At the same time shut down location finder

4 years and no answer to this topic, bryndza is on the right path but to close an app phone needs to be rooted. I use erobot.

Try Tasker, an android app that will allow you to do the following: When Waze is running and the screen is off, wait 10 seconds and if the screen is still off, kill Waze. The app is not free but very cheap and will allow you to make other cool stuff as well.

Just close the screen and Waze will close itself within one minute or so...

How do you turn off a timed trip?

I don't think anyone will forget to turn it off cause waze will keep saying turn right, turn left, we are here.

What about an option to shut it off when unplugged from charger?

I would love to have autoshutdown as an option. My case is, that I mostly run Waze with display off and depend on voice warnings. However, Waze sometimes shuts down while not moving. The best way is to make this as an option in menu, to give user a chance to set Waze according his demands. It would be nice to turn off autoshutdown at all, or just at destination, etc.

I need that too!. That would be a configuration option for Shutdown when arriving to destination, so it's not forced if the user don't want it.

Agreed! If I am sitting at my desk at work for two hours, Waze should get a clue and shut off instead of continuing to drain my battery.
I'd be fine with this as a settings option too. As long as I have the ability to have Waze shut off after a certain amount of time not moving.
