Avoid a specific road
I've seen a number of posts regarding this, and myself have wanted this on various occasions for a number of different reasons. The alternatives (avoid highway, avoid toll, avoid dirt) are useful in many cases, but there are also many cases where they simply don't serve the actual need.
For example, this reddit post (https://www.reddit.com/r/waze/comments/6vfd6m/can_i_stop_waze_from_rerouting_or_select_a/) is from a user that wants to specifically avoid the Capital Beltway (I-495). Not because it's a highway, and not because of a perceived inability for Waze to determine traffic, but just as a personal preference. As another example, sometimes when driving through D.C. or Baltimore, I find myself wanting to avoid certain local roads at night time, specifically ones where the street lights are not working. There are many personal preference reasons one might have to want to avoid a specific road! And hearing things like "you can use this other option" is usually not helpful, because the asker of the question has already explored the menu and found those options!
There are a couple ways this could be presented to the user. In the settings menu, I could see a list of roads you want to avoid, and a button to add a road, which takes you to the map, possible with a search option. Maybe when navigating the map normally, one of the things a long-press gets you is the ability to mark a road to avoid. Maybe when you are presented with a list of directions, you can swipe away a turn to indicate you don't want to go onto that road, and you're then asked "this trip only / this and all future trips?"
This is getting long-winded. It suffices to say I've thought about this a lot and would like to see this feature. Thanks for reading.
Thanks for your feedback. At this time, this doesn't fit on our roadmap, but we'll keep it in mind for future product planning.

Bonjour,

We were on a route stuck behind an accident. Waze presented no way to re-routr around it because we would have had to go backwards for a minute or two to get to another road. A feature to select a road on the map and say "avoid road" would be great!

There is a road that Waze loves to make me take and the road really sucks. It would actively reroute in order to avoid a 5 minute slowdown on the better route. Every time I drive on that route I think my hair starts falling out because its such a narrow and complex route to follow, with cyclists and pedestrians sharing the road and most times you get stuck behind a tractor or a truck.
I want to backlist that road for me personally, I prefer the 5 or even 15 minute slowdown with a direct route.

Looks like Waze can tag some roads as restricted and avoids routing to it for all but those who have special permissions (e.g. residents with sticker or RFID for opening the barrier) can pass through. Unfortunately some of these routes are tagged as passable to general public thus many get wrongly routed through them. A quick fix would be to tag them as restricted to all and just let those who have permission (stickers or RFID) take those route because they would know they
have permission to those short cuts anyway. For example, vehicles are not normally routed through private subdivisions in Manila those residents there would know that they can pass thru anyway. So it could be easy to change the default for resident only roads as restricted from being routed instead of the other way around. Otherwise some drivers after driving many miles (km) down a road need to turn back when they get prevented from "passing through" a road that is restricted to residents (or military personnel, etc.) -

Some roads are limited for passing through to residents with special "stickers". Waze always routes me through Mamplasan route in Laguna, Philippines because it is the shorted route but I don't have a special sticker for it. Very annoying because it reduces my selection of alternative routes. Even when I set a stop point past that junction, it routes me back to that junction. I also am not able to get an accurate ETA because I am not given a way to choose between two other routes because one of the possible routes always routes me back to that junction.

I wish I could get it to avoid the TEXpress lanes in Dallas. It's slower than the Bush and five times more expensive. I have started to use Google Maps more due to this reason.

One more here, many roads in Costa RIca are simply disgusting and I don't want to damage my car suspension just for 1 min earlier, I always to go trough my preferred road to see if waze would "learn" that I will simply never use the bad road, but it keeps sending me trough that one regardless and there is no way to tell it not to do that.
I wish there was a way to tell waze to do as if that bad road did not exist for me and just find another way, or let me choose my road to use "instead"

I'm totally for this. Waze always tells me to take a route through Brooklyn Heights near Baltimore and I can't get it to use the specific route I want because of it trying to route me through every stoplight between myself and home. Even if it's two minutes faster, it takes two minutes off my life every time I drive it.

I agree. In DFW, there is a specific toll road that charges RIDICULOUS toll roads to travel on (roughly 5x more than the rest of the roads). It runs parallel to one of my work routes and Waze keeps trying to send me down it. It's a highway, but most of my work drive is. I'd like the option to avoid JUST that highway.

In the Philippines, there are roads we would like to avoid altogether. Our government has absolutely no city planning, and as such, there are roads only wide enough for a motorcycle to cross. On other occasions, the road is also an extension of the market and stalls are set on it, making it extremely difficult for vehicles of any form to pass. Also, it isn’t uncommon to find a road that serves as an extension of a living room, where irresposible parents let their children play. And should you accidentally hit one of their children, only god knows how you’re getting out of that street alive.
In short, these are the kind of roads you’re only going to want to cross once in a lifetime due to dire need and completely forget about it afterwards. So please, allow us to mark roads that shouldn’t be crossed unless you’re in a life or death situation.

I drive school children on field trips into Boston, and drivers all know to avoid Storrow Drive due to low bridges, some with just about 6’ of clearance. But Waze keeps trying to route me onto Storrow Drive and I need a way to avoid that road. Please fix the app so I can do that.

There is a an alternate route to my work that comes up when I-95 is backed up that uses a road that's really not meant for average vehicles. It's more for construction vehicles going to and from a cement company. It's not maintained at all. It has major pot holes, ice in the winter, and is just plain creepy when you don't see anyone on it in a car, just big trucks. I don't ever want to use that road.

Couldn’t agree more! Driving north from Maryland we hate going over the George Washington bridge and would really prefer the Tappanzee!

bonjour. Je j'aimerais juste que Waze arrête de me propose l'A86 Duplex a Paris qui est hors de prix. Est-ce possible ? Merci

Agreed. There is a route between home and work that is a single track winding road through some woods. It's fine during the day, but at night it's kind of terrifying because it's completely unlit. You can see chunks taken out of trees at the curves where people have gone straight into them. Would like to avoid this route at night.

Pouvoir rentrer le nom d'une rue qu'on ne veut jamais emprunter (car trop dangereuse...) de façon à ce que l'itinéraire proposé n'intègre pas le passage par cet endroit

I couldn't agree more. Waze often suggests a road that's extremely narrow with no shoulder. I'd rather take a slightly longer route that doesn't force me to white-knuckle the steering wheel the entire time I'm on the suggested road.

I would like this because of a restraining order that keeps me from going down a section of a major road through town. I don't go into this town often, but when I do, I have to spend time fighting with waze or google maps to not go down the major road and take back roads to the other side of town.

In the turn by turn instructions, allow the user to select a specific turn to skip and route around. For example, if I know a specific turn will be hard during rush hour, let me scroll down the navigation select the turn and route around it.
