Gravel Road Checkbox in Map Editor
An option similar to the Toll Road checkbox that would allow a street segment that's a Gravel Road to be checked off as such and would allow for more precise client preferences to avoid both dirt and gravel or just dirt roads. Many roads gravel roads are well maintained and perfectly suitable for travel, but shouldn't be marked as a Dirt Road/4x4 Trail.

I was asked for more specific qustion about a map error and couldn't respond as there was no way that I could see how. I have responded in to map editors in the past but in this instance they asked for an address but I was unable to respong, therefor the case was closed when it REALLY needed to be addresse. Twice I was taken to the wrong place with the address. Even the receptionist at the business said that is quite the problem with the app as it is taking people to w. main instead of main. the address is BCP Veterinarian Pharmacy 1614 Webster St, Houston, TX 77003
If you veer of the wrong track here things could get sketchy and unsafe.

Most gravel roads are suitable for relatively quick travel 40-50 MPH in normal/dry conditions and still suitable for travel (detour, etc) in adverse weather (rain and light snow cover). Dirt roads are virtually impossible to get down, even with a normal 4x4 during or after these events until they dry out. This is further complicated by a "minimum maintenance" or "dirt" segment in the middle of a several mile stretch of gravel but marking these will prevent people from getting stuck/stranded.

Gravel and dirt roads should not be bunched together. Where I live in Canada, dirt roads are not maintained and are not cleared in the Winter making them impassible. As such, if you are not familiar with the local roads, which you wouldn't be if you're using a GPS, you shouldn't be driving down dirt roads. Some people would say that common sense should tell you not to go down these roads if you're in a car, but time and time again we see that common sense isn't stopping people from following their GPS down poorly maintained roads.

I'd go with an "unimproved" option for the checkbox, that will cover both gravel and dirt.
