Increase police warning distance
Waze users are warned of speed traps or police presence only about 600 feet ahead of time. This is far too late of a warning. With a clear line of sight, law enforcement can detect speeders at 1-2 miles out.
By the time the Waze warning pops up, you could have already been detected.
This feature – while very well intentioned and thought out – is useless with so little warning.

What we are aiming to do here is speed based alerters.

There is a curve on the interstate where I commute and sometimes cars get pulled over around the corner and it would be helpful if the warning was much sooner so that the drivers can move over before entering the curve so we don't cause an accident. I don't understand why the alert distance was changed to begin with. I understand cops may like a shorter notice so they can catch speeders but it could prevent a terrible accident one day on this curve.

Err, don't speed and be attentive whilst driving?

This app is becoming useless. Looking at alternatives since suggestions seem to go on tin ears

It needs to be further out than it currently is. At least .5 miles, please. The newer speed based alerts need tweaking.

So it's been on the roadmap for 5.5 years? Could I just implement it myself and submit a pull request? You may be aware that there are alternatives to Waze, if the app functionality continues to decline, users are going to migrate elsewhere.

This is becoming a serious problem. Lately, alerts for police are showing up just as I’m passing them. Officers seem to be intentionally staying just far enough outside the alert range. It used to help, but now it’s too late to adjust. Please bring back a longer warning distance or make it adjustable.
Makes you wonder if Google is limiting alert range on purpose. Are they caving to pressure from law enforcement?

This is extremely important! Why doesnt WAZE use common sense and safety being a priority????

This is ULTRA important! I received pothole alert to late and almost lost a wheel.

You make a solid point. A longer warning distance would definitely make the police alerts more useful, especially on open roads or highways where visibility is much greater. Maybe Waze could allow users to customize the alert range based on speed or road type. That way, it could adapt better to different driving conditions.

Please just add in a setting that allows the user to select 1 mile, 2 mile or 3 mile alerts pretty please. Speed based alerts would only notify car users, as commercial have lower speed limits on dual/single carriageways it would not work for these users. Could you add in a feature as well for different types of vehicle category?

Speed based could work, but presently it's just not soon enough.

But now here we are. He has his unique piece we call it 'the one' with unique https://is.gd/W7K5Ku link touches only he knows about and Carl F. Bucherer was able to introduce a production model of our most complicated watch.

Why would this be shelved? Seems pretty important to me and everyone else!

Shame you wont implement this. Started using TomTom Amigo go instead for this reason only and so have many others. Can choose 10seconds, 20s, 30s etc.

Dear Waze Team,
To me and many other users, the speed camera alert function is one of the key selling points of your product. While the feature itself works as expected, I feel like it would be great to introduce an ability to set the distance at which an alert is triggered manually.
I find the current alert distance to be rather short which often forces me to resort to unnecessarily harsh braking. An ability to set a higher alert distance would be very beneficial to avoid such scenarios and greatly improve the experience of using this wonderful feature.
In addition to the main suggestion, it would also be nice if we were able to set the alert to play even if our speed does not exceed the speed limit as to avoid accelerating unnecessarily. Thanks in advance for reviewing this suggestion!

I wonder why this suggestion is not being considered! What's the point of a radar alarm if it's too late? Only around 500 meters on the highway is insufficient. Please reconsider this for the 2025 plan.
