Offline map and directions available for driving abroad without the use of internet (roaming).

Sugestão: navegação offline e pré-carregamento de rotas

Gostaria de sugerir uma melhoria importante para o Waze relacionada à navegação em locais onde a conexão com a internet é instável ou inexistente.

Recentemente, durante uma viagem, passei por trechos onde fiquei sem conexão de dados móveis. Como não tenho Starlink no carro, dependo da rede móvel da TIM. Quando a conexão é perdida, o Waze acaba deixando de exibir corretamente o mapa e, em alguns casos, a navegação é interrompida. Quando a internet retorna, é necessário inserir a rota novamente.

Seria muito interessante implementar um **modo de navegação offline**, semelhante ao que outros aplicativos de mapas oferecem.

Uma possível solução seria:

* Permitir que o usuário **baixe previamente uma rota ou determinada região do mapa**.
* Ao iniciar uma viagem, o Waze poderia **pré-carregar automaticamente todo o trajeto**, incluindo uma margem de segurança ao redor da rota.
* Caso o usuário fique sem internet durante o percurso, o aplicativo continuaria exibindo o mapa e fornecendo as instruções básicas de navegação normalmente.
* Quando a conexão fosse restabelecida, o Waze voltaria automaticamente a fornecer **informações em tempo real**, como trânsito, acidentes, radares, obras, congestionamentos e alterações na rota.
* A rota poderia permanecer armazenada temporariamente até que a viagem fosse concluída, evitando a necessidade de configurá-la novamente.
* O aplicativo poderia avisar antes da viagem: **“Esta rota será pré-carregada para navegação offline.”**

Essa funcionalidade seria especialmente útil em viagens longas, estradas com cobertura irregular, áreas rurais, regiões montanhosas ou locais onde a rede móvel apresenta instabilidade.

O objetivo não seria substituir os recursos online do Waze, mas garantir que a **navegação básica nunca seja interrompida simplesmente porque o usuário perdeu temporariamente a conexão com a internet**.

Acredito que essa melhoria tornaria o Waze muito mais confiável para viagens, principalmente porque o usuário poderia contar com a navegação mesmo em trechos sem cobertura e, assim que a internet voltasse, recuperar automaticamente todos os recursos em tempo real.

First of all, I would like to sincerely thank you for creating such an outstanding navigation application. Waze has been my preferred navigation app for a long time because of its excellent routing, real-time traffic information, and user-friendly design. I truly appreciate the hard work and dedication of your entire team.
I would like to submit a feature request that I believe would greatly benefit many users around the world.
It would be extremely helpful if Waze could support offline maps and offline navigation. I understand that Waze is designed around real-time traffic information and community-based updates, and I realize that some online features cannot function without an internet connection.
However, allowing users to download updated maps (for example, weekly or monthly) would enable basic navigation when internet access is unavailable or unstable. Live traffic, road hazards, and other community features could remain online-only, while offline navigation could continue using the downloaded maps.
This feature would be especially valuable for travelers, people in areas with poor network coverage, or users who temporarily lose internet connectivity.
Thank you for considering this suggestion. I sincerely appreciate your efforts to continuously improve Waze, and I hope this feature may be considered in future updates.

Travelling through many south east Asian countries where each country has its own roaming system, as i add a planned drive 3 days from today from Hong Kong in Vietnam and select the airport to hotel, waze has an empty map on arrival where I may not have internet till I arrive at the hotel.

For very short trips 2 days or less, it is sometimes not worth the roaming or local sim but there are enough trips in a year.

Add offline maps to waze, like google maps or here we go navigation apps have. Thank you

Critical feature.

You have a poor roadmap if you don’t realize how important navigating without cellular service is to your users. While some features like reporting conditions may not function, it is still necessary for navigating areas not serviced by cellular towers

The inability to download offline maps is my main issue with Waze. It's very disconcerting to be navigating in a tense situation and all of a sudden have the Waze screen go black. Google Maps can do it, why not Waze?

Poderia dar pra baixar a rota desejada pra poder usar offline, e quando conectar a rede novamente na viagem ele atualizar.

How about making an option available for offline use where the user can download the map of the region, saving mobile data? If it's to encourage it, how about charging for the download of the map?

Waze way too often doesn't work or, worse, drops connection mid-drive! I suppose this is because of my Genmobile carrier limitation. Then I have to use Maps.Me Android navigation app that somehow always works but I don't like its interface.

Currently, when offline, the voice is disabled so I still drive but have to be constantly looking at the screen for directions...just enable the voice when offline, just like how Google maps does it

I love the way the waze is helping us. It could serve more better if you provide Offline map service. I love to use waze however when i dont have data then problem comes and i have to shift on other offline map service provider like Yango or Google.

Please add this feature; it's the only thing holding this app back for me. I love the way Waze navigates, live alerts or not, but I live in an area where If I leave the main Interstate corridor (which is kinda where I would need navigation), I quickly lose my data connection. I understand Waze caches along the currently set route but If I know I'm going to be in an area I'd rather be able to download the basic maps ahead of time, so I'm not forced to use competing apps if I'm doing anything more than a there-and-back trip to a single address.

Having Offline maps is so important to anyone especially when unable to access to internet connection like many people around the world and for using Offline navigation and maps allow for having all features that Waze Offers and every time you connect to internet it updates some infos about Police cameras and more

When i go somewhere outside my home country, first I want to download the choice route and than to only type the country ir town and download the whole map.

So when I'm online again or having wi-fi to update with the latest updates.

I don't like offline downloading process of Google Maps but this is the only source of truth for me so far.
