minimize left turns across traffic
In urban areas making left turns onto a busy street without a traffic light or 4 way stop can be difficult and add minutes. Ways should have a navigation option to minimize that. By contrast right turns onto traffic and left turns off of heavy traffic roads are awesome
Thanks for your feedback. At this time, this doesn't fit on our roadmap, but we'll keep it in mind for future product planning.

These impossible left turns are also common at busy times for lighted intersections which only have a straight-forward green but not a dedicated left green arrow. I often suspect these impossible left turns are residual programming of the origins of Waze, in Israel, where lighted left turns are ALAWAYS equiped with their own dedicated light... This obviously does not work in the many busy intersections in Los Angeles. I often need to let 3-5 lights go by, each letting 1-3 cars at a time until I can get through. Please fix this!

Making a left hand turn onto a two way (two lanes each way) street with only a stop sign is pretty tricky, especially at night. Decided to make the right and edged into the crosswalk, having to stop quickly for a family crossing in front of me. Can there be an option for a safer driving option on local streets that would use streets with traffic lights for left turns onto two way streets.

Please save lives and provide the option to avoid left turns. All of them whenever possible. Model after UPS. Not just avoid "difficult" left turns. Give us the option to avoid ALL left turns. PLEASE. There is no doubt you will save lives. PLEASE!

I had two trips lately where WAZE took me on a circuitous route thru neighborhoods, when with two-turns I would have avoided left turns onto busy main streets. Aaaarg!!

Avoid back routes thru neighborhoods when main streets are not busy

Please, please, please offer a 'safe' route, where Waze DOES NOT route left turns across busy/congested/dangerous streets.

I totally agree with you! Another good reason: the more we make only right hand turns, the less congestions are created.

please don't tell users to turn left at an intersection with no traffic lights

Waze will take you to a stop sign for a left turn at major artery with 4 or more lanes when just up the street it could have taken you to a stoplight. This is dangerous and unnecessary as the stoplight controls what traffic passes such a nearby street anyway -- you may as well have the benefit of the light for the left turn.

Wouldn't mind if the difficult left turn came up during no traffic volume; can this be modified to look at traffic conditions as a part of the routing weight? If not I'd be fine with only routing through traffic lights for a left hand turn. There are times Waze thought it was saving me time because of a busy road but any savings was eaten up by an inability to turn due to a high volume of traffic.

Left turns might get complicated!
When waze trying to give me a better route, it might make it even worse. For example, waze trying to avoid traffic created by traffic light on the major intersection, so it will give me a route through the empty street with a left turn and no traffic light to a road where traffic is high. So I end up waiting when I get a chance to turn left even longer then if it would be with a traffic light. Some new drivers also can be under danger while making such complicated turn to a busy road. I belive drivers could possibly mark that down, so new drivers could avoid dangerous intersections with no traffic lights -

Allowing editors to mark turns as "difficult" is a good start, but there are turns (and straights) that Waze suggests that are downright dangerous. There should be a more serious setting for those. Also, we need a way to set Waze to avoid these turns, not just be notified.

I would like a way to avoid these turns, as a setting, not just be made aware of them. They definitely influence the route I am comfortable taking.

I've had the same challenge with left turns in Toronto. Maybe the program could at least calculate a delay of 45 seconds to turn left onto a busy street which would automatically have the program select an alternate route if it is available.

This would Really speed up getting places and would reduce accidents. uPS implemented this and saw great results!

Have a setting that eliminates left turns, as in cities, with no traffic lights, like LA

@Kent Smith, where is the "difficult turns" feature located? I've heard about it, but never seen the option in the app. Also, it will soon be illegal to interact with a cell phone while driving in Seattle, even when stopped. So, is there a way to mark these difficult turns after the trip is complete?

Agreed. I was routed to a left turn into a heavy traffic two way road (two lanes each direction) and then had to immediately wedge my way through all of them to make an immediate rift turn. However, if waze only had me turn left sooner (onto a two lad residential road) a right turn would have followed right onto the street they wanted me on (with a traffic light too to cut me through the heavy traffic cross road).
Such a change would have minimized my stress and the road rage of other drivers looking at this idiot just cutting straight through essentially stopped and jam packed traffic to get to the right lane.
Waze folks. If a route takes a little longer but makes more sense, give us he option of the road rage minimal route.
