Add Electric Charging station location info.
As as EV driver, it would be nice if electric charging station locations was built into the app so I don't have to go to yet another app just for this info. The data is widely available from here
http://www.afdc.energy.gov/fuels/electricity_locations.html
and here
and here
One problem is there is not one site that has all the info, so I'm forced to check all three. Having all this data within Waze would allow me to stay inside the app without having to leave it.
Great news! The option to see the EV charging stations along your route is now available in Waze. Install the latest app version to check it out. You may also check this link to learn more.

Since the app shows gas stations, it would be nice if it could show EV charging as the main POI. This is something I'd be willing to pay for!

Ditto. "Where can I charge?' would be great.

Just bought a new LEAF with built in NAV. It's great for estimating range for driving within a charge radius, and has integrated map locations for charging, but as for the traffic and croudsource speed trap stuff I have to rely on Waze. I would love to turn off the gas station features, since I have no use for them, and replace them with EV Charging locations!

The various sites charging point sites are all a bit naf and having it done properly in Waze would be a real bonus. Pretty please?

This is a great function to add with EV ownership increasing faster than ever now. Not to mention a compelling reason for all EV drivers to embrace using Waze.

I'd like to add my vote to support this request. For EV drivers like me it's a complete no-brainier.

For electric vehicle drivers the lack of a good sat nav with charging points is a major pain. The vehicle maker offerings are usually clunky in use and not kept up to date.
An additional benefit would be if they could be identified by network because there are a range of different providers all having different access and payment systems so most users will be limited in which ones they can use

It would be nice if you could have a range value on your profile so that it could automatically adjust the route to accommodate the recharging need.

also add hydrogen stations

You guys can load SuperChargers info on your own.
Furthermore, you may and you wish rely on your waze local community to help you do so.
Ideas from Ricardo Silva sound great. -

Currently driving an i3 which has a navigation system with charging stations. Very nice. Only that the maps are not that great and traffic information is just next to useless which is why I sometimes use the built in system and Waze.
My lease is up and I will get a Bolt now with no navigation but Apple play. So Waze will be back at the forefront. Having not to switch between Plugshare and Waze to find charging stations would be more than just useful. very interaction with the system while driving put's you at risk of getting into an accident. Pulling over every time to look something up is also an increased risk and more than just annoying. -

Very Good suggestions below, but I would like to remark that not all sources provided (plugshare, chargemap, electromaps, etc...) are global, and will not suit for a global solution.
Please find some more suggestions:
- Have different symbols to identify slow / fast chargers, private or publc;
- Have the possibility to introduce comments (to report chargers not avalilable) and photos about charging stations;
- Have online conenction with charger (when possible)
- Check-in features to allow others to know that charger is in use (for "offline" chargers)
- Allow users to add charging points manually. -

Electric or Plug-in Hybrid vehicles are a niche that used to be very small but is now growing. Most Waze users still drive a combustion propelled vehicle. Adding EV services to Waze would be of great importance to accelerating the transition to sustainable transport. As a minimum I would like to see charging stations filtered by type on Waze. Level 3 : CCS 1 and 2, Chademo and level 2 : j1772 and Mennekes.
In the near future we will still have less charging stations than are needed so it would also be of great use to know which charging stations are in use and which ones are unavailable.
As a third tier of services I believe making reservations for a particular charging station would bring peace of mind and would reduce range anxiety.
Imagine planning a 700km trip for an BMW i3. I for one would like to make a reservation for a particular Level 3 or DCFC charging station along the route so I can find it waiting for me so I can charge my car without wasting time because it's already being used or unavailable.On another plane, Waze could really profit from this feature. Right now EVs make up a small portion of total traffic but imagine the number of EVs would grow 100x. You would get an overloading of the energy grid because let's be honest a 20kw consumer (not a big charging power) is not that usual and unbalance the energy grid if such consumers would all charge at the same time. Waze could be a tool to mitigate that effect in the sense that you could plan charging so that users don't all charge their cars at the same time.
It would also be great if Waze integrated with OpenCharge : http://www.openchargealliance.org -

It would be great to have the charger locations shown on the user's route, but it would *really* be great if there could be some extra abilities, like to find the nearest level 2 or 3 station that is currently not being used (I guess networked with the chargers or at least PlugShare's check-in log).

As an avid Waze driver and electric car owner I wholeheartedly endorse this suggestion. It would be fantastic if they could use data from PlugShare to show which chargers are in use too.
