It would be great if School Zones were added.
I gave votes to the others. I do understand there are time management issues. This would be a huge plus.

We plan to work on putting School Zone alerts in the near future. In the meantime, make sure you’ve got the latest version of Waze for all the latest features.

In New South Wales in Australia (Sydney etc), All School Zones have a fixed 40km/hr speed limit for 1.5 hours in the morning (8:00am -9:30am) and again in the afternoon (2:30 pm to 4:00pm) Monday to Friday except in designated School Holiday periods. The fines for being court on Speed Camera's or by police are massive and you loose points off your license typically 1 to 4 points. Loose 12 points and your license is cancelled. Not having School Zones correctly indicated and the 40km/hr limit taken into account is an enormous shortfall for Waze. Garmin etc all have this functionality. It is the one issue which causes me to consider stop using Waze.

With the inclusion of school zones being added, a way to avoid that would be appreciated

This and maybe having the ability to avoid active school zones

While looking at your different routing options, what if there's an indicator that shows you're being routed through an active school zone?
-
The Animated Gamer commented
While a school zone is "active," could the zone itself appear on the map? This would give a visible area for drivers to know when to be more alert, what to expect when routing a new drive, or even allows them to know what's coming and choose to route away.

Would be great if app users could add a scool zone that is not presently identified by the app so drivers will be alerted. Added and then verified by Waze staff at some point, and then made permanent...or through a confirmation algorithm based on how many independent users verify its true existence.

I think it would be a good idea if we could add the feature to avoid school zones. It would save time in travel and make for a much safer experience for kids going to and from school.

Dear Waze Team,
I am writing to you as a loyal user of the app for 15 years. I have used Waze on a daily basis and have witnessed its constant evolution and improvement.
I would like to suggest a feature that I consider important and useful for the community: the inclusion of school zones. This would allow drivers to be more aware of areas near schools and reduce their speed, improving the safety of children and pedestrians.
Some features that could be included are:
• Reduced speed alerts in school zones
• Visual markers on the map to identify school zones
• Notifications of school entry and exit timesI believe this feature would be beneficial to the community and improve road safety.
I appreciate your consideration and look forward to your response.I appreciate your attention and dedication to improving the app.

Need to show school zones and the speed limits of the school zones.

The Waze app needs to take into consideration school zones when calculating the fastest route since routes with school zones obviously take more time.

Considering the safety of our children is paramount, it's crucial to regularly assess and improve school zones for optimal security and efficiency. The School Zone Report provides invaluable insights into areas that require attention, ensuring the well-being of students and peace of mind for parents and educators alike. As we delve into this report, it's evident that collaboration between community stakeholders, policymakers, and local authorities is indispensable in implementing necessary measures. From traffic management to infrastructure enhancements, every aspect plays a vital role in creating a safe environment conducive to learning. Exploring solutions and sharing ideas through platforms like https://writepaper.com/write-my-discussion-post can foster meaningful dialogue and drive actionable change. Let's leverage this opportunity to prioritize the safety of our future generations.

WAZE should add the option to report school zones under Hazard when the school zones are in effect instead of the current "Hazard ahead" as most people report for school zones.

SAMUEL MORGAN commented
Indeed. Very important alert since school zones, specially in Brazil, are commonly disregarded by the drivers.

Let users add an active school zone as they can an object in the road or a vehicle on the side of the road. It would be to labor intensive for waze to upload all school zones. Not to mention they change based on holidays. Just create a way for users to add it as a warning or hazard please. I am tirednof seeing people speeding through school zones.

This I think is a good idea. Just keep in mind it could become a bit spammy (especially in bigger cities). I would still definitely want the variable SLs with it (not just yelling 'school zone' and doing nothing about it), but this would be a good addition.

There has been considerable discussion about getting times/calendars etc in Waze for school zones (and other variable SLs)
I agree with the suggestion that just use a School Zone/warning, similar to the message for high crash hazard area, but we editors indicate the zone eg with a box or an attribute of a segment, and drivers would simply get a warning and popup perhaps like a red light camera alert.
It seems that most of the abilities required for this exist in waze already, just need to adapt to school zone alert.
This would avoid the complications of having to accommodate the myriad of SL/time combinations across Australia.
I also assume the concept could be applied to other alerts eg variable SL roads -

This would be great to see in australia too

School zone speed alert should be added to all maps even if its just as a hazard to make our school zones safer.
It’s a no brainer. I don’t understand why this hasn’t happened yet.

Could the school zones be identified with color for a 5 km radius around the school or at least just indicate School Zone.

Add school zones. Allow the user to turn the function on and off as school holiday periods have zero school zones. If turned on the user sets the times when the zone is active (in my local area that is from 8.00am to 9.30am and 2.30pm to 4.00pm). They could also enter the reduced speed (40kph in my local area) or you could embed that information in your map. The standard excess speed warning could sound if the speed is in excess of the school zone limit. And a voice warning could indicate when you are about to enter or leave an active school zone.
