Car on right or left side of the road
Letting drivers know what side of the road the car is on.
The first report os just "car is on the the side of the road," once reported the next wazer can confirm which side right or left.
This 2 step reporting is less distracting to drivers

Thanks for your feedback. At this time, this doesn't fit on our roadmap, but we'll keep it in mind for future product planning.

SHOCKED Waze hasn't already made this ESSENTIAL + CRITICAL addition:
Specify LEFT or RIGHT (or BOTH – if/when applicable) when warning about vehicle(s) on shoulder(s).
Could save countless lives + LITERALLY make LIFE or DEATH difference(s) – each and every time.
Case in point (prior to Waze existence):
Driving at night in center lane of highway behind van.
Pull over to left lane to pass van...
...only to SLAM in to rear of State Trooper's black cruiser...
...which, in turn, slams in to rear of broken-down black Cadillac...
...BOTH of which parked 1/2 on LEFT shoulder + other 1/2 in/on LEFT lane of highway – in darkness.
Thankfully no one killed + only I was slightly injured – as Trooper + other 2 individuals were out of respective cars + standing on median.
My +/- brand-new Honda Accord + Trooper's cruiser: TOTALED.
(Uncertain if damaged Cadillac also TOTALED).
EASILY could have been SO much worse.
Given broken-down vehicles on either or both shoulders...
...AND fact that most accidents occur within split seconds...
...knowing WHICH shoulder(s) can make all the difference......ESPECIALLY given epidemic of CRAZY-fast RECKLESS + CARELESS drivers.*
*ALL whose license suspensions MUST be AUTOMATIC + any/all repeat offenders BANNED from driving for LIFE.
EVERY time I receive Waze warning re: vehicle on shoulder...
...I CRINGE + say out loud: "WHICH shoulder?!".Specifying LEFT or RIGHT (or BOTH – if/when applicable) when warning about vehicle(s) on shoulder(s) is a 'NO-BRAINER' – that MUST be implemented/included into/onto Waze IMMEDIATELY.
Thank you.

p.s. Immediately after typing this entry:
6/17/25 Hartford Courant: Trooper injured in crash.
Trooper investigating separate motor vehicle crash + another person injured when driver struck cruiser + another vehicle on I-84 West 6/15/25.
Trooper + driver who caused collision both taken to hospital + both vehicles towed from scene + guardrail sustained damage.
NOTE:
At least 1 other Trooper + multiple good Samaritans killed assisting disabled vehicles/drivers in past +/- year – alone.
These types of accidents + injuries + fatalities occur ALL THE TIME.
At least SOME COULD have been + CAN be avoided – if/when Waze specifies LEFT or RIGHT (or BOTH – if/when applicable) when warning about vehicle(s) on shoulder(s).
1 life lost = 1 life too many.

I think this idea will help out a lot of wazers

I want waze to say theres a vehicle on the left or right shoulder ahead

When you report a vehicle on the shoulder, Waze adds it on the shoulder of the direction of travel as far as I've noticed, so traffic travelling in the opposite direction shouldn't get a notice of the report.

you should add a subsection under “car on the shoulder” for “right shoulder” or “left shoulder”. this helps in big cities where the highways are quite large. If someone is on the right shoulder it doesn’t affect the people in the left lane. but if i can’t see 300 feet ahead of me in the left lane, and there’s someone in the left shoulder, it affects everyone that’s flying on the left lane, as well as other cars on the roadways. just a thought.

Instead of just "car on shoulder ahead" it would be great to know which shoulder (left or right). In Minnesota we are required by law to move over to give cars on the shoulder room. It would be great to know which way I need to move to avoid hitting the car or striking someone who is out of the vehicle.

I would like to see an option to quickly (safely) select if a vehicle is on right or left shoulder. This is good info if you are driving on a multi lane road, so you can move away from the hazard.

How about being able to add us a vehicle is on the right or left side of the direction you’re traveling, and also adding if it’s a car or truck?

Add button for disabled vehicle locations ( left or right ) side of lane. So traffic can change lanes before getting to the disabled vehicle. To help with gridlock

Under police you should add traveling. I travel 240 miles a day on I-10 for work and I see more cops traveling with traffic than sitting and hiding.
Under hazard, I feel that it would be helpful to have on inside shoulder or on outside shoulder. Last night I had one on the shoulder on my right and then on my left but I had no way of knowing which one until I was on top of them.
Also with stalled Vehicles can you have a tab for stalls and a Tab for abandoned. Since I do travel the same exact Road everyday 240 miles I see the same vehicles and some days people add them and some days people don't because they've been there for more than one day but they're still hazard. -
