Hello Waze Team,

This post is to strongly urge the prioritization of full integration with Apple CarPlay to enable turn-by-turn navigation on built-in Head-Up Displays (HUD) and digital instrument clusters.

This remains one of the most critical safety and convenience features missing from Waze, and it's a primary reason why many drivers reluctantly switch to Apple Maps when using CarPlay.

The Technical Framework Exists

We understand that enabling this feature is entirely possible within Apple's provided framework. The process is initiated by implementing the mapTemplateShouldProvideNavigationMetadata(_:) delegate method. By returning true from this function, Waze can signal to CarPlay that it is ready to supply the necessary navigation metadata for the car's native screens.

This isn't a niche request. An extensive and growing list of vehicles from major manufacturers already support this feature for Apple Maps and would immediately benefit from a Waze update. Implementing this would instantly improve the Waze experience for drivers of:

I’m writing to urge you to work with Apple to integrate head-up display (HUD) support into Apple CarPlay. As an iPhone user who exclusively relies on Waze for navigation, it's difficult to understand why this functionality is available on Android Auto but not on CarPlay.

In today’s world, where driver safety and convenience are top priorities, having HUD support for Waze on CarPlay seems like a no-brainer. Waze is far superior to Apple Maps when it comes to real-time traffic updates and hazard alerts—features that truly make driving safer.

Please consider collaborating with Apple to bring this much-needed feature to CarPlay. It would greatly enhance the experience for your dedicated iOS users and make the roads safer for everyone.

This would be a great add-on for Apple CarPlay users. I also use Waze exclusively and would love it to be integrated on my HUD.

If it is possible to do with Android Auto, why not integrate it for Apple users? It makes the driving experience safer as well. Apple and Waze please work together to make this happen.

I just wanted to say that the new update allowing Waze to show up on some vehicles’ HUD is absolutely amazing—thank you for continuing to innovate and improve the driving experience!

That said, I wanted to kindly ask if you could consider updating Waze to support this feature with Apple iPhones using CarPlay in Hyundai vehicles. Currently, it works great with Waze on Android Auto in Hyundais, but unfortunately not with Apple CarPlay yet.

There’s a huge community of Hyundai owners who are big fans of both Waze and Apple CarPlay, and we’ve been patiently waiting for this integration. It would mean a lot to see it added in a future update.

In my vehicle, the Apple CarPlay system provides the HUD a "0km" indication when navigation is enabled, so there is at least a basic communication. It certainly would be nice if Waze would provide actual directions.
